My interview appointment time as per the letter was 8:00.
I took the shuttle bus service from 3rd Avenue and reached the Embassy at 7:25. A Chinese lady was behind the glass wall taking finger prints with a local man assisting in the process. A token was given and I had to wait about 20 minutes in the waiting lounge till my number blinked. I went to the window where a local man asked me to sign the application, took my medical report and asked me to wait again. Another 15 minutes and I was called to another window where a White, American male was waiting for me. Questions were generic.
1. Who is calling you to the U.S?
2. What is her job?
3. When was your first contact with her?
4. Why did your previous marriage not work?
5. Why did your wife's previous marriage not work?
6. Where did you have your wedding?
7. Why the wedding was held in your house?
8. I know that you have been to Singapore, have you been to any other countries?
I replied all his questions truthfully and in a calm manner. He kept typing and feeding data in a computer. In the end, returned all my original documents to me, kept my passport and said that he does not think my wife's income is enough to support me so I would need a joint sponsor and there would be some administrative processing as well which might take several months. I asked him to consider the current projected income of my wife but he wanted to stick with 2011 tax returns, completely ignoring the pay stubs from 2012. It was a short interview and I was out of Embassy by 9:00 a.m. Anyway, now I have to find a joint sponsor. Good luck to you all.
