Hello everyone!
Well, this VJ site helped me so much when I went through my visa process so here's my review from my interview at the Embassy in Tokyo, hope this helps!!
I arrived at the Embassy about an hour prior to my appointment time which was I believe at 9:00am. There was no line to get inside the Embassy, just an easy security check point where they take your cellphone.
There were a couple of people already inside, but not too many.
Remember this: be prepared to wait for an adequate amount of time.
Even though there are TVs to watch, it might be a good idea to bring a book to keep you occupied.
They asked me to come to the window three times total;
1. to submit all the paperwork I brought. - then wait.
2. to provide finger prints. - then wait.
3. to actually have an interview through glass window, standing.
At the interview, the interviewer basically asked me about my husband, his job, and how we met, how come we hadn't gotten married yet since we were together for 7 years, and some other questions to just make sure if all the information he sees in my paperwork was accurate.
All the questions he asked me were super easy. If you know about your spouse and your relationship with him/her, you should be just fine!
I asked him if I would be given an IR-1 visa instead of CR-1, since the day after my interview date would mark our 2nd wedding anniversary.
(Our interview date was 10/9/12, while our wedding date was 10/10/10.)
He said, I would get CR-1 since the interview was done a day BEFORE our 2nd anniversary, BUT as long as I enter the States AFTER my 2nd anniversary, I would automatically receive IR-1. (which is exactly what I got within a month after I entered the States!!)
I know many of you might feel so anxious and nervous about your up-coming interviews, that's how I was. But just relax, try not to be panic, because you do not want to say anything that you do not need to address.
Only provide information that was asked by the interviewer.
