Our appointment was at 8:30AM. When we arrived, we waited about 5 minutes before we were called to the window by the clerk who reviewed all the paperwork we submitted to NVC. She was very helpful and gave us the opportunity to revise some of the information we input on our DS-230. She gave my wife the option to change her name on the DS-230 from WifeFirstName HusbandLastName to WifeFirstname WifeLastName HusbandLastName. In short, she notified us that my wife can use her Japanese Last Name as her middle name. Clerk was also nice enough to explain everything to her in Japanese. After all our paperwork was in order, we waited for another few minutes to wait for others to get done with their interviews. When it was time for us, we were asked two questions:

1) If we swear to tell the truth?
2) How long have we been married?

Next thing we know the interviewer tells us the visa is approved and should be coming into our mail within a week. We always imagined that the interview would take place in a private dark room (like police interrogations), but it actually was all done behind a counter window. Everything was over at 9:20AM, less than 1-hour!

Our interview was on Tuesday and our visa came in on the following Saturday, 3-days later! Great experience!
