It was an interesting affair. I will try and be as clear as possible with my report, I hope someone finds it helpful (I found a lot of helpful info here).

My journey from this end began when my fiance received notification of our NOA@ and then again from NVC stating our files had been forwarded to the embassy. The embassy then sent him the Pack IV which he forwarded to me. IN it where the following forms;

1. Applicant’s Statement
2. Form DS-230, Part I, Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration, Biographic Data
3. Form DS-156 Nonimmigrant Visa Application (two)
4. Form DS-156K Nonimmigrant Fiance(e) Visa Application
5. Immigrant Visa Supplemental Information Sheet
6. Form I-134 (Affidavit of Support and Instructions)
7. Instructions for the Medical Examination

The instruction was to fill out the first part (Part I) of the DS230 form and also the Applican't statement form, and then fax both to the embassy (they provided the number). They require these two bits before they can schedule an interview.

I filled and faxed both forms to them, provided my telephone number, mailing address and email address, but they wrote to my fiance instead, to tell him they had received the forms and asked us to call a certain number to schedule an appointment.

I thought it was weird that they refuse to deal with me directly since I was the one attending the interview and would be the one calling to schedule. Regardless, I called the said number and was scheduled an interview on a Tuesday. I was made to understand I was required to be there the day before for the medicals, so we traveled down to Naples on a Sunday.

I stayed at a B&B called Casa Mira (http://www.casamiranapoli.it ) I couldn't have asked for a better place. The price was very friendly, staff were VERY friendly, the consulate is 5 minutes walk from there and the mailboxes office where passports are sent to be collected afterward is 10 minutes walk from it. The medical centre however is a 10 minutes drive but they drove me there FOR FREE. SO it was for me, the perfect plan.

Anyway, the forms that were provided for the medicals (sent with the Pack IV forms) were not necessary, the medical centre decided to use their own forms, still I would advice that you fill them and take them along anyway. YOu never know, they may require it in future who knows? The only thing they requested was our passports (my daughter's and mine), one passport photograph each, and our vaccination records (they were oK with photocopies, but I will advice to take the originals as well, just to be on the safe side).

For me, they drew blood, did an xray, asked medical history and requested medical records of any treatments in the past that required surgery or hospitaliazation, so if you can lay hand on any of those, TAKE THEM ALONG.

We arrived at the medical centre at 08:00 and didn't leave until midday. We were requested after the medicals to go to the embassy with our passports and photos for fingerprinting. The procedure for me lasted about 10 minutes, but I suspect it is because I had an 8 years old child tagging along so it was in her favour to have it done as soon as possible. The lady gave me a listed of documents I should have had with me, told me to arrange them in the order given on the list when I come tomorrow, in order to speed up things. She took my finger prints, scanned our photos and returned them to me. She however asked me to return tomorrow with two copies each.

IMPORTANT; THE PASSPORTS PHOTOGRAPHS MUST BE, I REPEAT, MUST BE 50 X 50 IN SIZE, ANYTHING BIGGER OR SMALLER WILL BE REJECTED.

We were given an appointment for 08:00 the next morning, I was there at 07:30 and to my surprise there were already 10 people queued up already. Again, they let us pass, on account of my kid.

She asked for all the docs and forms on the list that was provided the day before. It turned out that I was supposed to fill out both PART I and PART II of the DS 230 for my daughter as well (I didn't do that), so she gave me the forms and asked me to fill it and return it to her. She also gave me a map with directions to the mailboxes, informing me that was where to go for my passports.

I filled out the forms, returned it to her and I thought that was it. So I left. I kept thinking that wasn't too bad. Heck! That was too easy! WRONG.

I received a call from the embassy asking me to return that the interview wasn't over so we returned. After about an hour, another lady called me and asked me to raise my right hand, and swear that I all info on the application were true. I swore. SO she asked me some simple questions - how I met my fiance, where, when and I answered her easily, then she asked what he did for a living and I told her where he worked, she then barked (the transformation was startling, I must say) she barked 'WHAT DOES HE DO FOR A LIVING" and I felt like telling her 'calm down', but I took a breather and then slowly explained to her what he did (apparently knowing where he worked and what his position was, wasn't good enough; she wanted to know what he did - his specific role in the firm where he works). She then ignored me and typed into her PC. Finally she asked if I lived in Naples, when I said no, she pulled out the form with the map and description where to go for the passports, and told me I can go there and arrange with them to send my passports to me in Livorno, and I could leave right away, so I thanked her and stepped aside.

IT wasn't until I had walked out of the embassy that it occurred to me that I have no idea if I was approved or denied. SO although I think it went well. I will have to wait till I receive my passport before I can say it was great.....or otherwise.

My advice? READ ALL REVIEWS AND PAY ATTENTION TO ALL THE DETAILS (I may have forgotten something important that someone else will mention). That has helped me to have the right docs and forms and to prepare more than I ever did for any exams. Good luck.
