Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

We had our AOS interview at 8am on the 28th of January 2013.
We walked into our interview at exactly 8am and had no wait time what-so-ever, we had no time to sit down actually as we walked in at 7:55am and then our interview walked out to greet us.

Our interviewer was a young(ish) lady who asked us basic questions from our I-485 packet and some questions like "are you a terrorist?", "have you ever claimed to be a US citizen?" or "have you ever used any government assistance?"

Our interviewer also did ask about our "intent" to marry on the VWP and explained to us that , that is not allowed! To which we answered when I entered the US to stay and adjust was NOT our intent but it just happened that way due to extenuating circumstances. No further questions were asked in that vain.

The interview asked if we had any additional evidence to submit, we handed cards, letters from friends, a bank statement and health insurance information.

The interviewer let us keep our cards because she said they looked important to us and then took some of the other items and asked if any were originals that we needed back. We said "no" , so she kept them. We were told to bring originals of our birth certs and other documents to the interview but they were never checked or asked for.

We chatted for a few minutes about our dogs and house renovations.

After 10 minutes the interviewer said "okay, I will go ahead and approve this for you now... Your green card should be to you within 2 weeks but some people have been reporting it can take up to a month at the moment so do not worry"
She asked if we had any questions and we said "no" and then she went on to explain about ROC / how and when to file etc.

The interviewer didn't keep my EAD or AP and said if I need it before my GC comes I can still use it. She said I could keep it for a keepsake or hand it back or destroy it once the GC comes.

That was it, we were done! It took us 40 minutes to get to our appointment and we spent 10 minutes inside the building :P
