First and foremost, I want to let everyone else who is going to go in for an interview to not worry! They are perfectly lovely and professional!

I arrived at the MLC center really early (approx 7 am) for my 8 am interview. There is a food court downstairs to have a bite to eat and coffee if anyone was planning on doing that.

I tried to get up the elevator to Level 10 for the security check but it was 7:28 and you can't get up there until 7:30.

Security screening require you to show passport and check your name off a list. They then ask for you to take all electronics out of your bag (ipods, phone, camera and even earphones) then proceed to screen your bag. Any drink bottles, you have to drink out off and then they ask for you to take your wallet out of your hand bag and check your bag in (given a number).

You sit in rows of chairs and wait to be asked to take the elevator up to the 59th floor. Once up on the floor, the guard at a door (behind a glass window) asks for your ID and again checks your name off a list then buzzes you through a heavy metal plated security door.

Take a number and wait till you are called to a window.

Initially I was called up to a window and was asked to provide any documents/ requirements that were requested of you in Packet 4. In my case, it was my Citizenship by Descent certificate, 2 x AMERICAN sized passport photos and proof of K1 Visa fee payment ($240). They ask for you to take another seat so that they may retrieve your file and check your documents against what they require.
They then call you to the window and say something along the lines of. " I am satisfied with the documents requested" then return all your originals and ask for you to take a seat and wait.

The second part of the process what the interview. The lady asked for me to hold up my right hand and swear that all information was true and correct and then explained that the interview would be conducted as a two part process the first being general questions such as:-

Have you and your fiance been married?
Do you and your fiance have children?

...and I've forgotten the rest of the questions but they seemed pretty general.

The second part is questions more in depth and relevant to your relationship.

How did you meet?
Have you met?
How many times have you been to the states?
Have you lived in another country? Was this after you were 16?
When was the last time you were in the states?
How long were you there for?
Have you ever overstayed 90 days?
When do you plan on leaving for the states?
What attracted you to your fiance?
Tell me about your fiance...
He's met your family? What do they think of him?
Where will you live?
How do you plan on supporting yourself?
What do you think of where he lives?
What does your fiance do for work?

Then the golden words....

I believe that you are in a legitimate relationship and as such approve your K1 Visa.

She handed over a piece of paper with my name wishing me congratulations and to wait for the email to explain what to do.

I did request to possibly pick up my visa as I was in Sydney till Thursday but she said that the turn around is approximately 48 hours to validate and that they will send in the platinum express bag provided by myself.

I received the email today congratulating and advising me that the visa had been issued and printed and was posted to day.

All in all, as much as it was nerve wrecking, they weren't out to make life hell. They were very calm, professional and lovely.I almost felt like they were possibly going through the motions as a formality. I was so anxious until I got to the interview window and saw that my file had a big fat red "approved" stamp across the front.

Anyways, good luck to any future interviewees. You'll do great!
