I arrived at the Consulate about 9:45am for my 10am appointment. I showed the security guard my interview letter and he allowed me to be the first in the door ahead of the long line up. The first two ladies you meet check you bags and stuff and then you are escorted by another security guard to the 20th floor in the elevator. From there you go through security again and then are directed to the this small room where there are about 5 wickets/windows. They give you a checklist of things they want in order and then they call you to the window ask for the forms. I was all flustered cause I had my stack of evidence and support of relationship she didnt want to see any of that she just wanted the checklist items. After that you wait again. About 20-30 minutes later she came back and told me to go down the hall to another window and have my finger prints taken. Then you sit back where you were and wait somemore. Finally the consular officer who was very nice called me up asked how I met my finace, and what he did for a living and what I currently do and what I will do for work when I get there. Then he asked me to wait while he checked how long it would take to process and then about 15 minutes later I was being handed my visa and explained how it works and voila! I was finished and out of there by about 12:30pm I think.Honestly I was to anxious to get back to the hotel to call my fiance and tell him the good news to notice what time it was but it was no later then 12:30pm. The only thing that worried me a bit was my lawyer had asked my fiance to have his last years tax forms and a letter from his employer to tell them how much he makes to show with the affadavit of support. Which he is over and above the minium. The lady at the window asked for more tax forms which I did not have and a statment from the bank which I also did not have. I was really worried at that point I was going to get denied. She said she would have to check with the consular officer to see if that was sufficient. All was fine. After I inquired to my lawyer about this and she said that the rules a few years back was you would have to show a few years worth of taxes but not anymore you just need the last year, and the statement from the bank was only required if the petitioner is making less the the 125% over the poverty line which also did not apply in our case. Just an FYI.
