Dec. 7th, American Embassy in Paris,

VISA APPROVED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll get it next week in person at the Embassy.

They told me that there are some electronic device problems with editing
visas this week. I suggested to them that I could come in person to fetch it
instead of receiving it by mail.

The two people I talked to were very nice and helpful. The officer asked me
those 6 questions: "When did you meet your Fiancé?", "Was your Fiancé once
married?", "Does he have children?", "What job does he do?", "What do you
do?", "What job do you expect to do in the US?". While responding, he was
going through the paperwork and that was it. The interview only took 10
minutes and it took me 2 hours in all (mostly waiting to be called).

The interview was scheduled at 1pm. I arrived there at 12:15am to be early
enough. The guards told me that it was too early and it would be best to
come back at 1pm. I went into a café near the Embassy and went back at
12:45. Then 10 people arrived. At 1pm, the guards checked our ID's and the
letter of convocation.

I got into the main room where the windows from 4 to 7 and 8 to 12 are. I
sat down and waited. First, a lady asked everyone to tell her our names. It
was kind of chaotic but a line of 15 people was made. Afterwards, the lady
asked us to sit down again until they called our name. In the meanwhile,
some more people came in the room, which is small. It filled up pretty
quickly and became kind of loud.

The first interview was done by a lady who was in charge getting the
documents ready for the officer. She asked me when my departure date is and
told me that there were some electronic device problems for issuing the
visa. Once all the papers were ready, she asked me to sit down.

Then, an officer called me. He asked me the questions that are listed above
and within 10 minutes it was done. He didn't ask me for any evidences of our
relationship such as pictures, photocopies of e-mails... When going through
the files I could see the pictures that Barry, my fiancé, sent last March to
the Californian Service Center and forwarded by the NVC to the Embassy in
Paris.

Some tips:

Pay attention when they call names. The room is loud and sometimes they have
problems pronouncing french names. It might be difficult to hear yours.

In Packet 4, they didn't include the DS158 file. I still filled it out and
printed it. It was asked for by the first woman. You can find the pieces
here. This link was very helpful:

Don't tell more than what they ask for (another tip that I found on VJ, very
helpful).

Bring an ID and the letter of convocation that is included in Packet 4.

Bring a lot of evidences of your relationship such as pictures, prints of
e-mails, photocopies of flight tickets, bills from hotel rooms, letter of
intent, letters from family stipulating that you are willing to get wed.
Better to be safe than sorry as my fiancé Barry said to me.

Cécile.
