Approved.....after a week of our case being reviewed.
My husband had a police record. Make sure you bring all the necessary documentation such as an updated police record, the spanish law of the crime in English and Spanish, a letter showing the completion of the sentencing. If you know you will be admissable, ensure to write a short brief stating the spanish law and also the FAM notes (guide the consulate uses)backing up why you know your case is admissable. Be OVER prepared and always think of the worst case scenario so you can prepare accordingly. If you know the law, you will be steps ahead and save lots of time. This is cliche, but so true, knowledge is power.
Due to the delicate situation of our case, I was at my husband's interview. I researched his crime during the months of waiting for our paperwork to go through NVC. I knew what our rights were. This review is for those of you whose partner has a police record. I know there is not much written about this, especially in Spain's reviews.
They did ask us for pictures. They asked how we met. Then they told us they would be in touch as they need to review our case further. After a week, they contacted us and said we are approved.......deep breath! Sigh of relief.
First two people we spoke to were not so friendly, but last two people were very friendly. Guards were very nice.
