Our visa is approved!!
I had my interview yesterday (13th nov) at the embassy in Madrid. First of all, I want to thank everybody else for writing their reviews, they helped me being more calm and confident about the whole process. My interview was easy and quick! Like someone else has said, I think the interview it’s a formality, if you get there I’m sure you will get the visa!
Monday at 10.30 am I went to Unidad Médica Anlgoamericana for the medical exam. It’s a very fast exam, and all of the people there were very nice. The doctor asks you a few questions about your medical history, then he takes your weight and height, checks your blood pressure, etc. After that the nurse takes a small blood sample to test for syphilis. Then you pay (cash) and they give you a little map to go to a hospital for the x-rays. It’s a 20-30 minutes’ walk from there. I didn’t have to wait when I got there, they did my x-ray immediately even though there were people waiting before me.
The next day, I picked up my results from the clinic at 12. They give you an envelope with the results and the x-ray, both sealed and you are not allowed to open them (but they told me everything was fine).
After that I walked to the embassy, which is about a half hour walk from the clinic. My interview was at 14.30, so I had to wait before I could go in. I went in at 14.05, I had a small purse with me and all the documents in a folder, they kept my cellphone and let me in with the rest. Another couple was there before me, but we didn’t get a number to get called until 14.30 as all the workers were having lunch. Even though it was stressing to wait inside, I would recommend to go a little earlier if you can, that save me the line. When they started calling people (exactly at 14.30) I was the second in line so I was called after 5 minutes. I got called to a window were a Spanish woman asked me for all the documents. She has a list of what’s missing in your case and ticks everything as you give her the documents. She only asked me for 2 pictures (I had read they ask for 3 of them, but they did ask for 3 pics at the medical exam). She was very nice and answered all my questions. After she checked all of the documents, she took my fingerprints and asked me to wait to be called again. After 2 minutes the consul called me (I think I was the only one being interviewed that afternoon). It was a little bit weird as the interview took place at another window in the main room, so everybody could hear us. I felt a little bit uncomfortable but didn’t have a choice! Also, he only spoke in Spanish and didn’t seem to really be listening to my answers.
The interview was very fast, about 5-10 minutes. The consul first made me sign the form 156K and swear with the right hand up. He also took my fingerprints again. After that he started looking over the whole petition papers, one by one he went through them and meanwhile he was asking me all the questions, which were:
- how did you both meet?
- what does your fiancé do?
- do you study or work?
- does your fiancé work?
That was all! After finishing looking at the documents and typing some stuff on the computer. He said: “Bien, ya está.” I had to ask him to make sure he meant the visa was granted and he said yes! So I thanked him a million times and left!
I was out of the embassy at 15h, exactly 30 minutes after they first called me.
Good luck to everybody! Feel free to ask me any other questions you have about the interview!
