I have found the others people embassy reviews very helpful so here is mine as well …..
Basically it was very easy. I was so nervous but once I got inside I was calm, relaxed and smiling all the time. My interview was scheduled for 2 p. m. but I was there at 1.15 p.m. and due to the fact that it was heavily raining outside they let me in. After a strict security check I went inside /turn off any electronics you may have/. The paying desk was closed at that time but the person working there was so nice so he opened it only for me. Previously I have been in the embassy two times /J1 and B2 visa / and it was crowded with people then, but now it was so empty 3 cases for a green card and one another girl for a fiancée visa just like me /just a note: her American fiancé was outside with her but they did not let him go inside the embassy with her as they told them there is no need for him to be present during the interview/.
So once I paid $240 I was called to No. 2. There was one very nice Bulgarian man with a moustache /such a nice guy, smiling all the time and joking about my engagement ring and saying how well and respectfully I have been dressed /this was because a lady in front of me around 65 years old was being interviewed for a green card and was not dressed properly and did not behave properly/.
I saw a pink folder with all of the documents which my fiancé has submitted with the petition and a huge red seal saying APPROVED from USCIS. So here is what he asked for:
1/ DS 156 with the barcode sheet + only one photo
2/ DS 230 only part one
3/ DS 156 K unsigned /later the American council asked me to signed it in front of her/
4/ DHL delivery sheet
5/ Birth certificate original and a translation
6/ Police record and a translation
4/ Marital certificate and translation
5/ my fiancé’s I 134 form – I had paystubs, house deeds, mortgage documents, share and deposit certificates but he did not take a look at them and he told me “I need only the letter of employer and tax return for 2011 with a W2 form “ and he gave me back the additional documents /he said that I had too much documents again in a joking manner/
He asked me the following questions:
1/ what is the name of my fiancé – I answered
2/ when was the last time he was here – two months ago
3/ have I ever been in the USA – I told him about the previous J 1 visa
4/ how we met
5/ whether this will be my first marriage – Yes
6/ he asked to see any proofs of our relationship – I showed him a huge folder with skype screenshots, yahoo emails, original letters and cards, photos and etc and he was like “WOW may I have only two albums” and I gave him only two albums with photos and I was so disappointed and stressed as he did not wanted to see any additional evidence
7/ he was browsing thought the photos and was asking questions like “who took this photo of you two” “Who is that person with you ….. ”
That was it - he told me to wait for finger prints and then wait for the interview with the American council.
They took my fingerprints and after not more than 5 minutes I was called by the American council – very beautiful lady around 30 years old. She was smiling all the time and talking in Bulgarian so I was answering her in Bulgarian too, we used English only a few times as she did not know a few words in Bulgarian and I told her that we may use English as well.
She was browsing through the documents and asked me the following questions:
First to swear that I will tell the truth.
1/ how we met
2/ is he working and where
3/ where does he live – state and a city
4/ what is his hobby – playing golf ;o)
5/ she asked about my previous J 1 – how many month I was in the USA, where, what did I work, did I like it
6/ she asked me about my previous B2 visa refusal – whether I wanted to go and see him then and I said yes and told her that I have with me the old visa refusal sheet, the old invitation from my fiancé but she did not wanted to see any of this
7/ she asked whether my fiancé has any family members with him in the USA – this was a tricky question as she wanted to see whether I knew that he has sponsored his father for a green card years ago and I answered it and she was very pleased
8/ she asked about our marriage ceremony plans – I answered her briefly basically explaining to her that we will follow the K1 requirements to marry within 90 days and that maybe next year we will have a wedding in Bulgaria
9/ then she asked me what I like the most about my fiancé
She was constantly typing on the computer. After maybe a two minutes of silence she checked our photos and asked where was this picture taken, why we went to England last year /looking at a photo taken there/. Then she smiled and said “Ok everything looks fine”. I just wanted to hear the word “approved” and I asked her smiling “does this means that we have been approved” and she replied “yes girl you are approved”.
That was it – 40 minutes later I was outside speaking with my fiancé
P.S. I had my medical exam in Greenberg clinic – 2 hours total, very easy process just bring any vaccination records you may have – this will save you a lot of money. For the medical I paid 100 BGN total.
So basically they wanted only 20 % from the documents which I had with me even though that in the latter/ Packet 3/ it says two photos, originals + copies ….
Now heading to Miami after a few days …. See you in the AOS process ;o)
