Rating: | Review Topic: K1 Visa
My appointment was at 8 am and I went there the day before and stayed at a hotel. It was only a 5 minutes walk from the embassy, although I wasn't able to sleep the night before - partly due to nervousness, partly due to the hotel being creepy... :-/
The day of my interview, I went there 15 minutes early (just like the instructions had told me to ) and luckily the line wasn't very long either. I used the "immigrant visa line" which was even shorter than the other one.
When I got in, I was called to the first window pretty quickly, where the lady just picked my passport and told me to sit down again and wait a little more. She also asked me whether I've done the medical and told me the person at the next window will explain everything about POE to me.
Which she did (told me to not open the one envelope, hand everything to the officer at poe, get married within 90 days and not to leave the country till I have the greencard), only a couple of minutes later. She also gave me lots of stuff back (passport picture, dhl receipt, ALL my relationship evidence, the folder I had sent in and my fiance's divorce decree, which I had handed in as well, since I wasn't sure, whether I needed that for pack 3).
I sat back down in the waiting area, too nervous to read any of the magazines I had brought. I waited for roughly another hour until the consul called me to his window. He was very nice, took my fingerprints first and then made me swear and sign that one form. Then, the actual interview started, but he didn't even ask that many questions. Here's what he asked:
How did you meet?
When was that?
How did you keep in touch?
How often did I visit my fiance in the US?
How often did he go to Germany?
Where does he live?
What do I do for a living?
What do I want to do there?
What was the longest, I've ever been to the US?
Why did I leave after only a month when I was an AuPair in 2006?
Where was I staying back then?
And also 2 questions based on the pictures we had submitted with our PETITION (not pack 3!): Did we go to the Octoberfest? Where was one of the other pics taken?
Then he said, he will approve my visa and I should have it in the mail within the next 7 to 10 days! :D
Overall there was nothing to worry about and everyone was very nice!
I was done and out of the building at 10 am, so it even went pretty quick! :D
