So his appointment was scheduled for 1:30 - he was seen at 5:30. While he waited he spoke to the door guard who told him \"I do not mean to discourage you, but very rarely does someone make it through the first time through\". He met several men that had been there three and four times, so he was prepared to expect anything.
The interview went well. He said the gentleman was very kind and polite to him. He asked a few questions about how we met, our time in Tunisia, a little about my family, etc. He said they then asked him a lot about his own family. Did he have Aunts, uncles cousins... were they alive, where did they live. They asked him about his work, his home, his family, his friends. There was a larger interest in his background, which I guess is understandable.
So here is where it gets weird. The CO told my husband \"you are not qualified for your visa today, but I need to keep these papers and pictures\". He was handed back his visa and told to have a nice day. No slip telling him the status, no idea if he was denied and headed back to the US or if it went into administrative review. I have tried contacting the embassy by phone every day they are open, and I have yet to get a live body. I have also emailed seven times in the month since then with no replies.
In talking to the State Dept. they said the embassy reported my husband was a \"No Show\" for his appointment!!!
Overall experience was - the people were very nice and respectful to him, but past that getting the outcome was difficult.
