Reached embassy around 7:30 through shuttle service; my brother accompanied me to the embassy. He stayed outside the embassy and I entered the embassy through a couple of security checks and fifteen minutes wait. As I entered the embassy i was made to sit in the hall for 15 to 20 minutes before finger printing. After fingerprinting the guard guided me towards main interview hall where people were waiting...I don't why but my name was not called till I had spent a couple of hours in that hall and the people who came after me all submitted their passports and medical reports after their names were called. This wait made me a little worried and i had started having severe headache. Then I went to window no. 7 where all documents were being submitted and asked the pakistani girl why my name has not been called yet. She said let me see. Anyhow after 10 minutes my name was called and then I submitted my passport, urdu/english original nikahnama, medical report. The pakistani clerk gave me a purple token to collect my passport. He also asked me the choice of language and i chose english. Then the wait started again and I waited for another couple of hours for my final interview. As only few people were left, i could easily see the interviewers. The interviewer was an American, he greeted me and I also greeted him well in return. He took oath from me and started the interview...
Questions were:
Who is calling u to America?
When/wwhere did u get married?
who arranged your marriage?
How many people attended the marriage?
Where does your husband work?
With whom has he been living?
Do u have children with him/ do u have children at all?
u were previously married, I need khula papers? I gave him court papers (he just had a slight look at them)
Why did u leave him?
How did ur husband go to usa?
Then he asked me to show him my wedding pictures. i gave him a little album. he saw the pictures then returned the pics to me. then he said u need another sponsor, ur husband's sponsor is not enough. i provided more papers to him. then he looked at them and telly the papers with what he had in the file and closed the fil and wrote OK on it. Then congratulations ur visa is approved, u can get it in 10 to 15 days from amex. Welcome to USA. yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy......it was one ultimate feeling of relief from all the wait and anxiety. Alhamdulillah. Allah is the most beneficent and the greatest. On 11th september, Mostly people have got their visas.
