Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

Interview was scheduled for 9:30am. Arrived 30 minutes early. There was plenty of parking on Callowhill Street.

Went through security and went straight upstairs to the waiting room. Receptionist took appointment letter. We waited about 45 minutes before being called in.

The IO was very professional, she swore us in and asked us to verify our identities (birth certificates, passports, DLs) and signatures on the AOS forms. She also took my newly obtained SSN.

She asked us for our address and date we got married. Of course the husband forgot the latter...I gave him a 'loving' look and he said "oh I'm in a lot of trouble, aren't I" at which point the OI turned to me and asked me to give the date. She noticed how proud I was of him that he remembered his own birth date, though. Yes he is that bad.

She asked what we do. We explained that we just moved and are temporarily staying with family. That lots of things are up in the air, we are holding off getting an apartment until I find a job, since my field is very specific. That husband just decided to go back to school (his first day was that same day. We were prepared to be grilled about finances...
I was so worried they would question all that, but she seemed content with the explanation! I offered original copies of divorce decrees, she didn't want to see them. Didn't ask for children's birth certificates, or any other paperwork.

We then talked about us having dinner and walking around in downtown Philly the night before and liking it so much, that we are now considering moving there. She gave us suggestions where to go sightseeing after the interview. So that was a nice conversation.
Then she asked if we had any other evidence to substantiate our marriage. I provided our new joint bank accounts, car insurance, car registration and title.
We had an album, I totally forgot to even take it out!!!

Then the IO asked me the yes/no i-485 questions. She asked me if I have, other than the international honor society I had listed before, membership at anywhere else... I was thinking I NEED COFFEE so I said "I'm a gold member at Starbucks, but I don't think you care about how much coffee I drink" and the IO is laughing, husband is half-laughing half-wondering how he married such a dork.
Then she asked me for my i-94 and went over ROC procedures, just out of the blue, without giving any extra information. And said that was it.

Whole thing took no more than 20 minutes!
The card production ordered email came in 8 hours later!
