My wife showed up at 7:00 for her 8:30 apointment. She went directly to line #3. There were only 3 other women in this line. So they all waited for a bit (became friends with each other) until they were called in. She went to the first window to get her paperwork. The woman behind the window said, "Wow, whoever organized these did a great job. They are rarely this organized!" (that would be me, with the help of VJ of course javascript:emoticon(' ') )So then she had to wait around an hour or so until they called her name. Then she went to the interview window. The man said, "So, you have a friend in the US that wants you to come over?" My wife said, "No, my husband wants me to come over." He smiled, then asked her how we met, and then asked her how we communicate because she doesn't speak English. She explained that I lived in Peru for a year and a half and speak Spanish. He then asked what my father's name was. Then she said he put on a serious, almost angry face and said, "This is your last chance to tell the truth, if you lie to me, you could be in big trouble." With %100 confidence, my wife said, "Yes sir, I am telling you the truth, and I really miss my husband." The man's frown turned into a big smile and he said, "Congratulations, your visa has been approved!" She was out of there, and on the phone with my by around 9:30
One more thing I forgot to mention, at first he told her that she was going to have to come back for another interview because she changed her last name. (She took my last name) And all of her paperwork (birth certificate, marriage certificate, old passport copy) was in her maiden name. He said, "I'm sorry but you will have to go get the paperwork when you legally changed your last name". So she reached into the folder that she brought and gave it to him. (we were prepared for anything javascript:emoticon(' ') )
