The first day is document intake and finger print. I am almost the last person to be called to give documents in one window. A Chinese woman was in a big hurry and asked me to give her documents quickly. She did not explain everything to me, and just asked me to follow an instruction in a slip of paper hanging on her window. Before I was sitting there to see her to be very impatient to others, so I know she did not just treat me in this way. She wants original three years tax transcripts of my fiancé which fortunately we have prepared, but she doesn’t want any other evidences, such as, our engagement evidence…She just was impatient for document intake, but she is not mean to say something. After document intake, I was a little worried the next interview day the people working in the consulate will push me to be hurry and don’t listen to any explanation and see any evidences I take with me.
The next interview day, when I went into the immigration hall to wait, I found all of interviewers are native English speakers and they were patient and gave chance to interviewee to explain when they raised doubts in their case. Actually I found some persons who got blue slips took longer time in the interview and tried to explain, but they failed to offer evidences or answer the question clearly. I am also almost the last person for interview. My interview is quiet simple, out of my expectation. I talked with interviewer in English, and firstly handed passport and EOR letter of my fiancé to interviewer, and told him this is the passport and letter my fiancé to ask me to give you. He even did not see my fiancé’s passport and returned to me and laughed and asked me “is he here with you?”. I answered “yes, to company for interview”. He kept EOR letter but never reading it when interview. He was only looking at computer while asking me questions, like how we meet, when we got engaged, how many times we met, and several questions about my fiancé’s personal information, and my background information. I even wanted to show our family members’ letters, pictures and other evidences, but he did not want to see them. Then he gave me a piece of paper, and told me please wait for my visa mailing to my home. I just could not believe it, and asked him “do you mean I am approved?” He said “Yes”. Then I said “but I prepare all of these…” He was just laughing to say “no need. Is it quite simple, Ah?” I was a kind of unbelievable, but very happy to say “thank you very much”.
That day I carried a big suitcase in which my fiancée and I prepared four file cases for interview. After interview, I just really appreciate my fiancé. He carried those files crossing the half world to prepare this with me. Like he said, “it is better to have and not need than to need not have.”
