All things considered, I have to concur with the other members here in saying that everything went well.
Here are some things that you might want to do to in order to be better prepared....
Be sure your fiance has his/her original birth certificate with him/her at the interview. Also,
2 copies of the same birth certificate will come in handy. All of the U.S. governmental websites
& the Kiev embassy website state that only copies are needed, but there appears to be a
disconnect between the several departments. If you have copies & the original on hand at the
interview, the problem is mitigated.
Be at the embassy when it opens, as they will call all of the K applicants in first.
No liquids, gels, or sprays are allowed inside of the embassy. We had to "donate" some cosmetics
to the people waiting outside.
Make sure that your fiance has completed 2 copies of each of the following forms...DS-156, DS-156K. We did not have to file any DS-230 forms, as that form is for immigrant status.
We had to wait in the small office for about 7 hours because of some paperwork issues, so be prepared
for a long wait. Finally, we were approved!
Good Luck!
