Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

The security officers at the entrance were courteous and friendly. They did their jobs efficiently without making you feel threatened. The security officer in the waiting area was just as friendly and courteous, and he gave us clear instructions regarding dropping off our interview notice and staying in the waiting area.

Our interviewer was pleasant and professional. She didn't make any untoward comments at all, and was very efficient in conducting the interview. The interview lasted all of 20 minutes, if that. The questions she asked were all relevant to our application, and she even engaged in a bit of small talk with us.

After she had asked the questions and gathered the evidence supporting our marriage and our living together, she said that she was approving our application, and that my husband's greencard should be in the mail within 2 to 10 days.

She also nicely informed us that lately, their office has been calling people in for sec... read complete review

We got to the office 15 minutes early, and sat down in the waiting room. We ended up waiting for almost 2 hours for our interview...I figured it was the usual thing for government appointments, so I didn't mind too much. The person conducting the interview was very professional. We swore our oath, and then he went through the file. We had hired an attorney to file our paperwork for us, so there were very few questions asked. He just wanted to make sure I knew my date of birth, parent's names, city of birth, current address etc. He asked us for our supporting evidence, and we presented him with a copy of our lease, bank account, and joint health insurance.

He asked us if we had any children together, and when was the last time I entered the United States. I told him the date, and he asked other times I had entered, to which I told him all the dates I had entered in 2005.

He asked for my husbands 2005 tax return and 3 months of pay stubs preceeding our ... read complete review

We had been preparing for this interview for about the past month, but really settling down into organizing what we need to bring within the past week, as our formal wedding was held on March 26. So, knowing that my husband has the tendency to be slightly forgetful and/or overlook things, I prepared the following:

A Binder with twelve dividers:

1..........Vaccination Supplement form I-693: Sealed Envelope from Civil Surgeon, copy and vaccination worksheet from UK Physical
2..........Updated Sponsor/Wife Form I-864 and supporting documents: employer letter, tax forms (including 2005), Pay stubs
3..........Updated Co-Sponsor Form I-864 and supporting documents: tax forms (including 2005), birth certificate, proof of income (Social Security/Retirement
4..........I-797 Notice of Action Documents: I-485, I-765, I-129F noa2, I-129F noa1, I-485 interview notice and cancellation (pre-change of address)
5..........Birth Certificates: UK ... read complete review

Showed up a few minutes early, then we were called after waiting less than 10 minutes. Interview went smooth & easy. Interviewer zipped through the paperwork, checking things off & asking questions. Although the notice said it would be videotaped, our interview wasn't. We even forgot the pink slip to my wife's car (proving she was on title too) but he said don't worry, you already passed.
