Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

The San Jose USCIS office is quite nice. It has a big waiting area and the entire office is very clean with nice fixtures and furniture. The entire staff beginning with the Security Officers at the front entrance were very friendly, upbeat and helpful. They have an efficient system that does not make people feel like they will be waiting all day. I was called about 45 minutes after my appointment time but I did not mind the wait.

My CIS officer was very friendly and she put me at ease immediately. She was very thorough while we went through my application. She indicated that she will submit my family-based AOS case for approval because my entire application was complete and all supporting documents were in order.

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

I recently had my AOS interview in mid-December, got approved the same day and received our card in one week. my wife and I brought our CA ID's, DL's, Socials, Passport, Joint Bank Statements, lease agreements, biometrics, Birth & marriage certificate, photo album, the entire I-485 package (including i-765,i-131,i-864), and whatever documents I received in the mail. However, the interviewer just asked for our IDs and passport and that's all we presented. He mainly wanted to see how she's adjusting to her new lifestyle. The interview took roughly 45 minutes.

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

Waited about 30 minutes after our appointment time to get called in for our AOS interview (adjusting from K1). Our IO was a sweet guy who first asked us for our marriage certificate, and then asked us how we met and how we eventually came together to get married. It was very relaxed and enjoyable, actually. We told him all about our first meeting, and he seemed to enjoy the story as well.

We showed him pictures of us together and with family over the last year and a half, and we gave him our documents that show joint ownership (e.g. lease, health insurance, credit cards, cell phone bills).

Finally, he went over the contents of the I-485, noting any changes that have happened since we filed it a year ago. Once that was done, he said okay, we’re done! He also said that he should be able to get our application approved by the end of the day, and that we’d receive our green card in 8 business days or so.

All in all, a great, stre... read complete review

The IO was very friendly, the whole interview lasted only about 10 minutes. All she asked were the yes/no questions on the I485, and asked if we had any other questions. Was approved exactly 8 weeks after interview.
