Our appointment was at 9:00 at the San Jose office, got there about 30 mins early. For the most part everyone was very friendly..went up to the 2nd floor and dropped our appointment letter in the wooden box and sat down to wait. There were about 14 other couples (some with lawyers) waiting, we were called at 9:15. Our OI was Mr. Saelee, he directed us to his office and the interview began. I am pregnant and he asked when the baby was due....I told him a few weeks. He said not to worry he would try and get us out as quick as possible.
He asked some questions basically read off the G-325. He asked us when we were married at least 4 times. He also asked us where we worked numerous times.
I had brought way too much documentation but he commented on how organized I was
asked for some pics, took a few along with our wedding invitation and told
us WE WERE APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He gave us a form that states:
I-48... read complete review

Our case was rather strange - my husband filed for a family based AOS (I-130 filed by his father in 1992) and I filed as a derivative beneficiary. My husband is from Mexico and we waited 16 years for his PD, we were both covered by INA 245(i). Packet (I-485 etc.) sent in August 2008.
The interview.
Our IO was very cold and formal. We were sworn in, asked standard questions about terrorist activity etc. and then she read aloud what we had put in our immigration forms. We brought every single document they had asked us to bring plus many more that we thought might be helpful; our file was about 8in thick! She did not ask us for a single proof of bona fide marriage, no questioning, rental agreements, bills - nothing (even though we had it all).
For some reason she wanted to see all our NOAs, which we had. Ufff. Then she wanted a proof that I was still attending school (an F-1 international student), which at this point didn't really matter. I had to ma... read complete review

Nothing special. Officer checked the information provided in applications. Asked about since when we live together, did we travel abroad together etc. WE had to show our joint credit cards, bank account, medical insurance card and photos. OFficer attached couple of photos to the file. And that's pretty much it. Application was approved right at the interview and passport was stamped with I-551.

The waiting room was really cold and not crowded at all (we were the only ones in there for about 10 mins). We arrived 1hr 30 mins early because we live about 2 hours away from the office and didn't want to get lost or stuck in traffic. We saw the IO at about 10:30 am and we were only in there for about 10 mins. He had us sworn in, then he asked us for our photo ID, passports and then he asked my husband his full name, birth date and address. He also asked me the same questions. Then he asked to see our marriage license, which I showed to him, he had never seen one like it before because it's from GA not CA. He asked us if we were married in 2005 (he seemed amazed, probably amazed at the fact that we had waited so long to file) and asked us who attended the wedding (I had our photo album but I didn't even show him the pictures). He also asked me some questions from the paperwork about being associated/affiliated with political organizations etc. He asked me when the last time I left t... read complete review

We had our interview today, 23 May 2008. Just a quick bit of advice: No food or drinks allowed as well as no cell phones or electronic devices (laptops, PDA, cameras, etc.) This will save you a trip back to the car which a lot of people were doing (including us). There were two guards at the front checking in people to get into the building. Only those with appointment letters can get in - no drop in appointments. The first guard was nice; the other was quite short tempered with some of the people in line. He was especially short tempered to those who did not understand English very well. After passing through the metal detector, we were a bit confused as to where to go. There were people sitting in chairs and a line for those who used Infopass. The nice guard asked if we were going for AOS and directed us to the hallway on the right. Another guard in the hallway was there and asked for the appointment letter. He checked our letter and our IDs and then instructed us to go upstairs to r... read complete review
