Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

Our interview experience was fine. The officer interviewed me first (US citizen) and then my husband with me present. Originally, my husband stayed out front to wait for our lawyer, who was late. We were asked the normal questions of how did you meet, what was the early parts of your relationship, etc. We had plenty of evidence to show our relationship - combined bank statements, a combined auto loan, combined credit cards, same address, pictures from various trips we had taken together both before and after the marriage. Unfortunately, at the end of the interview we discovered that we needed an updated medical exam since these are only good for 12 months and it had been 13 months from the time of the NOA1 to the date of the interview. This is a HUGE mistake on the part of the lawyer - we could have easily gotten a new medical done as soon as the old one expired. Now we have to go through a RFE, new medical and probably several more months delay in this process.

We arrived at 11.30, (appointments at 12 & 1). We went through security and into the waiting room. Which was empty when we got there, but filled up pretty quickly. We got called at 12.10 and they combined my and my son's interview, which was handy. My son and I were sworn in and we all (including hubby) sat down. The officer introduced himself and his colleague (who was watching our officer as he was in training).

We were asked about our i130 and i485, kiddo had to answer questions about his own but was allowed to ask me if he didn't know the answer. The only other question directed at him was "is school here much different to Ireland".

We were then asked how we met and how many times my hubby and I visited each other before getting married. He specifically asked about our wedding in Scotland, and laughed when we said we had paid witnesses.

We handed over supporting evidence, bills, lease, life insurance, Christmas cards to us all, hea... read complete review

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

After a long waiting period, my husband and I had our interview today. It went really smooth and I would like to share the experience with you all.

We started the process back in October 2015 and our priority date is November 5th, 2015. On march 28th we receive notice that our interview was schedule for May 5th at 9:00 am. So after having a mock interview with our lawyer, we gathered the last piece of extra evidence and this morning we were ready.

I was a bit nervous and I was not able to sleep very well last night, but we were as ready as we could be and we arrived to the USCIS office at 8:40 am. Our lawyer was already waiting for us in the lobby; we went through security and went to the waiting room. At around 9:10 am, we were called and the IO asked us to follow him.

We entered his office and he asked us not to sit down. He swore us in and then introduced himself. He got the I-130 form and asked my husband (US citizen) questions from it. ... read complete review

We got to our appointment about half an hour early. The security guys were super nice and once we were through we headed up to the third floor where the USCIS offices are. You hand your interview letter to a receptionist who then directs you to sit down in the waiting area. It's definitely the nicest facility we've visited as part of the immigration saga! There were about five other groups waiting, so it wasn't busy. We waited about 15 minutes before an officer called us back and brought us to another, smaller waiting room. He had my wife wait there while I (the petitioner) went back to his office with him. He asked my quite a few questions that just established our history as a couple (how we met, first date, who proposed, when did we get married, etc). He also asked where I work, where my wife works, what our hours are, and some questions about our living arrangements (how many beds/bathrooms in our house). I gave him the evidence I'd brought and he looked through it. As he was looki... read complete review

We got there and there were other people waiting to interview as well. Went through metal detector/scan and up to the waiting area. Our interview was at 8 am and we were called around that time. Both of us went in together. USCIS officer complimented our file and said that everything was very well organised and thorough. We did the oath and then he first went through the I 130 with the citizen and the I 485 with the beneficiary. He then asked us how we met and our story. After listening he said that he was recommending us for approval and gave us a paper with the approval box marked off. The officer was very nice. We handed over more evidence and left the building. Email/text with card production info. came within 30 minutes. javascript:emoticon('')
