Had my AOS interview in Portland Oregon on Wednesday May 8. I had filed November 6, 2018 and my receiving date was November 9, 2018. We waited only 15 minutes and my name was called out so my husband and I together with our son and lawyer went in. The lady officer was very friendly and the whole interview was like a conversation. She asked the yes or no questions in the i-485 form. She asked how we met, have we met each other’s family, why we decided to get married...She also asked if we brought any joint documents so we gave her bank statements, apartment lease and utility bills showing both our names. We also gave her the baby’s birth certificate showing both our names.
She then said she has no problem approving us there and then and that in a week’s time I’ll have the green card. She never looked at our photos and I had printed so many, I had a whole album.
I received an email at 10 o’clock that n... read complete review

K1 AOS. Got there 30 minutes early went upstairs to the waiting room the interview probably started earlier than scheduled maybe the officer was free. came with a relative to help as an interpreter for my wife in case we were separated or if officer gave us a hard time if I interpreted. The interview was conversational style the officer looked through our photos of before coming to the US and after coming to US and asked us about our history short-term and long-term plans and then asked 15 to 20 questions from the i485 list of questions. she skimmed through our documents of proof we prepared such as tax returns bank statements work pay stubs school records medical bills insurance IRA beneficiary and then kept all the documents for her file. she asked if we had any questions we did not and told us we be approved and to be expecting the green card in 10 days. overall experience was pleasant outside of us being slightly nervous. we would've probably been okay without an interpreter but go... read complete review

Although the officer was very nice and made a couple jokes with us, she asked all the relevant questions.
I have unauthorized work in my background so she really touched on that.
I didn’t get an approval on the spot and she was very ambiguous about whether she would recommend us for approval or they would request more evidence.
My case status changed to “Interview was completed and case must be reviewed†which made me a little concerned but after a little more than three weeks it changed to “New card is being producedâ€
Despite the heavy questioning on my unauthorized work, I never felt harassed. She was just doing her job and I was already expecting those questions.

Our interview was on February 27th 2019, at the Portland office. We got called back pretty quickly when it came to the time of our interview and the woman who interviewed us was lovely. Both my husband and I were nervous, and teased each other about drinking all the water we had before the interview was over but it went quickly. Most of it was going over the applications we sent to verify and then she asked how we met. I started explaining and got nervous since I don’t really have a talent for getting straight to the point so I let my husband finish explaining. Then we talked about getting married, honeymoon, and if we had any further evidence which I provided some further documentation that I had printed. Such as our pets registration with both our names, bank account, and previous filed taxes since my husband originally was on a J-1 visa before Aos. We got told we would be approved and should receive notice that day before we left. Really great experience, and appreciated the... read complete review

We entered the building about 35 minutes prior to our appointment time to ensure that we got through security and checked in at reception. You wait upstairs until they call your name (not number) and walk through to the offices at the back. We were waiting about 45/60 minutes until we were called. The officer was very nice (I didn't catch his name but he had a slight speech impediment). He asked us our names, for our identification and then took my fingerprints and a photograph. He asked me about 80% of the questions from the I-485 general inadmissibility section. He asked if I had ever had a job, what I was doing in my waiting period and what plans we had for the future. He asked us if we had any pets, any children and any plans for this year. He asked about our living situation so I gave him a letter from our roommate stating our situation. I asked him repeatedly if he needed any other documents, or to look at my originals but he said no, that everything was in order. He didn't even ... read complete review
