Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

We got to the building at around 7:50am... went straight in through the metal detectors and security.. and headed in the elevator for the 13th floor. We checked in with a security guard showing him our appointment letter and I.D. He told us to go to window 1. I waited at window 1 to which some loud black lady yelled "yo, do i look like i'm over there?" She was at window 2, a few inches over. I smiled and bit my tongue and handed her my letter, she asked if we had a lawyer, i told her no, and she said to take a seat.

There were many couples waiting anxiously, some with lawyers.

At 8:35am, a small pleasant middle-aged woman called for my name. My Wife and I entered and she led us to our little cubicle. It's like an office cubicle. We raised our right hands and were sworn in.

The first question she asked was "What are you two doing married so young?!" My Wife answered that we fell in love and the officer smiled. She asked how old we were, 21 an... read complete review

The interview went really smooth. The officer was very kind. We had sent a photo album with pictures of our almost 5 years long relationship. She asked us very basic questions like how we met, what's my/his address, what's my/his birthday and where I/he was born. That was it! It went great!

We're so happy!

It was pretty painless. 30 min wait after we arrived on the dot for our appointment, but the actual interview took 15 minutes. The officer was pretty friendly and relaxed, and didn't ask us any unusual or hard questions. And he stamped the approval in my husband's passport on the spot!

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

We arrived at the Newark CIS building at 10:40AM for an 11:00AM appointment. After passing through security and taking the elevator upstairs, we showed our Interview letter to a woman at the podium. We then went to Window #2 to check in. We were pleasantly surprised that the waiting room actually had seats to sit in.

For those of you that had to waited for biometrics at the application service center you know what I mean. The application service center was appalling. The area where you check in and wait to go upstairs was filthy. You'd think that someone could at least sweep and mop the floors every once in a while. It would have made a great place for a haunted house.

But back to the waiting room...The waiting room was full of people. We did not get called into our interview until 2:00pm for an interview appointment at 11:00AM!! After having our names called by our IO we went back to his cubicle to begin our interview. The interview began with... read complete review

Lasted exactly 12 minutes. AO didn't ask to see any documents except the sealed brown envelope. Asked us each maybe half a dozen questions and then approved us. Only problem was he stamped the passport with the previous year's info so the stamp was set to "expire" the day before it was granted. Luckily the card itself arrived in only 2 weeks.
