AOS Interview, Garden City, NY

Arrived at 9:30 for a 10:00 AM interview, droppped pur interview letter and were asked to wait to be called. We were called with a group of about 50 more people and escorted to the second floor, there we waited a bit longer. At about 10:45 we were called for out interview. The officer asked me how we met, where we lived, if my wife had children and where were the children, at this point the officer seemed a little concerned with the fact that the kids have been away from their mother for a year (I actually found that very nice), he asked who is taking care of them and I said they have a nanny who's been with them for almost 9 years, I also told him I had already filed I-130's for them, this changed everything, he seemed a lot more comfortable hearing that and after that we were done in a little over 15 minutes.

The IO called for and interpreter and asked my wife the same questions he asked me, then the yes/no questions on ... read complete review

We are APPROVED!!!

Here is how it all went down!

We arrived @ the Federal Building @ 2pm. We went through security and hubby had to take off his shoes (funny I sailed through with no problems). The security guard was this REALLY cool older Jamaican man, he started flirting with me while they were giving hubby the once over. Once that was finished, hubby and him started joking (I was REALLY at ease). We checked in on the eighth floor, the lady behind the desk was not having a good day.

The room was very unwelcoming and had a few couples were already waiting, it seemed as though everyone had a lawyers! We were seated and waiting by 2.20pm. About 10mins passed and a lady emerged from an interview crying hysterically so you know I was IMMEDIATELY on edge.

We were called in @ 3.05 by an older Indian fellow (I have no idea what his name is).

He swore us in and got right down to business.

He asked for my... read complete review

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

We had our AOS interview in early June and it was fairly painless. The wait was stressful; there was over an hour's delay. We didn't have a lawyer with us and there was no need; we had prepared a lot of documentation and neither one of us had ever had any problems with the law.

We were interviewed by a pleasant man who started by joking about the difficult pronunciation of my last name. During the interview we actually managed to have a conversation on things like cultural events in the city, our pets, and even electric bills :-)

First we had to provide a certified copy of our marriage certificate, my husband's proof of US citizenship, and both of our IDs. The questions we were asked regarding our AOS petition:
1. When did we move in together? Who lived in the apartment first? (the interviewer was pleased both our names were on the list)
2. Do we know each other's full names?
3. Do we know each other's dates of birth?
4. Do I ... read complete review

We had our interview yesterday. We were on time, our appointment was @ 2:30pm, we were called @ 3:50pm and finished @ 4:20pm. Our IO was very friendly, he made small talk. Here are the series of questions that was asked of us that I can remember.

1. are you both working?
2. our parents first names
3. how we met and where?
4. the date of our marriage
5. how long have we been married
6. how long have we been together
7. how many children do we have and their ages
8. have we been married before, any divorces
9. our address
10. did we have a big wedding and how many people were there
11. do we have any joint bills and bank statements
12. my 2009 tax transcripts
13. any joint sponsor

He took Danny's passport before the interview, but returned it @ the end, only wrote in it that he had his interview on 5/18. We told him we still have not received the EAD, he check on... read complete review
