Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

So, we arrived at the Los Angeles service center at about 9:15am as our appointment was at 10:15. It took about 30-40 mins to get into the building as there was a very long line up. We went upstairs and gave our interview notice to an officer that told us to have a seat and wait till our names were called.

We waited for about an hour and fifteen minutes till the officer finally called my name. There were about 30 people in the room waiting to be interviewed. Some went in and came out in about 15 minutes. One young couple went in together and then a few minutes later the husband came outside to wait, they had been separated. He sat across from us for an hour. I could see his lips moving and he was praying under his breath. He was actually still waiting when we left.

Anyways, so, the officer calls my name and we go into her office. She swears us in and has us sit down. She was polite but all business and had a slight Eastern European accent that was a bit ha... read complete review

Interview Scheduled on August 16, 2010 @11am at Los Angeles Office

We parked our car 9:45am at a parking lot in front of the Immigration Building.
We had a Yogurt in the market area and head to the building at 10:15am; we waited about 25 minutes in the line for security.

We got to our room and there were about 50 couples/families.
We left our cellphones in the car but there were many people with their cellphones in the waiting area of AOS.... :wow:
We were talking and looking at our pictures (brought 6 albums lol) while we waited.
We waited 3hours!!!!!! ---> we were getting so hungry :crying:
But our actual interview was about 10 minutes!!!!

The officer, mid-30ish, very friendly cool guy greeted us at the door to go in the interview room.
We were sworn first and sat down in a small office with many papers all over his desk..
He asked us questions about how/when/where we met, asked my husband w... read complete review

parking around here is expensive. the cheapest i found after circling the vicinity was $8. however, the experience was rewarding as we got our approval for aos. whether or not you will have a happy ending depends on the ao. if he/she is not picky and mostly friendly, i'm sure you will have a good experience. but naturally you have to be prepared, mentally and bring all your supporting docs.

good luck.

Well we had an early appointment at 7:15 AM we got there at 7:00 AM but there was a long line to get into the building. The security check point takes a long time and don't bring any cameras or if you can help it, leave your purse or backpack at home. When they opened it took about 40 minutes to get to the security check point and then my wife brought a camera with her....that's a no no. Lucky that they allow you to take it out. We didn't drive so I didn't have a car to leave it in, but there is a shop across the street that does all kinds of things and they will hold it for $3.00 until you can pick it up.
We got in and put our invitation in the basket in room 7377 and waited for about 30 minutes before being called to door# 1. We were interviewed by a woman who was nice. She swore us in to tell the truth and asked those typical questions that are on the application about being arrested, taking drugs etc..
She asked for paperwork that colaborated our marriage, bills,... read complete review

So much for the 10 minute AOS interview other people have been raving about with a K-1! Interview was hell!

We arrived at 9:45 for our 10:15 interview, didn't get called until 11:45. Our adjudicator was young and somewhat inexperienced and NIT-PICKED almost every document! We were very prepared, had copies and orginals of every document, to the point he said he was impressed. Despite that, he found several "problems"...

1)POE was Los Angeles, yet I-94 stated Toronto (had to explain to him that US Customs check is on the Canadian side, not the US side).

2)No grounds for wife legally using my last name (as if he'd never seen a California marriage license before! I actually had to explain it to him!)

3)Improper immunizations...dash instead of a check mark on the form (Are you serious? I had to point our that the USCIS-appointed Civil Surgeon had signed off on my wife's immunizations. What possible problem could there be?! He was... read complete review
