Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

We had our interview in Indy today and were approved!!!

We arrived at 12;15 for our 12:30 interview. Parking was right out front and was $5. We went up to the 4th floor and gave the lady at the window our appointment letter. She told us to sit and wait. We waited until 12:35 and then we were called in. The officer was officer Bonk and she brought us back to her office. She swore us in and then we sat down. She took our IDs and my passport.
Then she asked me a whole load of basic questions such as my full name, address, dob, ssn then a whole load of the "no" questions. She asked me had I ever been on A J1. I said I had and she looked kind of shocked but I said I wasn't subject to the 2 year rule and I showed her the visa in my passport. She told me I was on the ball!!!! She then asked if I had the I94 from when I last entered in 2005 and did I enter on a H1B. I said no I entered on an F1 and that I had the I94. I also had the I94 that I got with the approval not... read complete review

The interview went very well. It was easy to answer all the questions and the officer didn't come up with anything tricky! We were prepared with copies of all sorts of recommended documentation--yet he asked for none. Better to be prepared though.

He did not stamp in my passport but said I would receive the PR card in 2 weeks. That was almost 4 months ago and I still wait (though not patiently and I have made several calls and one appoinment and now they are investigating the delay).

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

Our interviewing officer was very pleasant and polite. He laughed at the small mountain of evidence we brought with us. The interview was very straightforward:

1) Asked us for our names, addresses, contact numbers, and dates of birth.

2) Asked us when we got married.

3) Asked me the standard criminal record/deportation/terrorism questions. After we finished this segment, he joked, "Very good. You gave all the right answers." lol

4) Asked us how we met. I asked my husband to do it because I always enjoy watching him tell our story. Husband later told me that the IO kept glancing in my direction as he told our story.

5) Heard the magical words: "Well, I am going to approve your case today because all your paperwork is in order and your background checks came back clean."

6) He kept my EAD. I asked him if he could give me the I-551 stamp in my passport because I had a job intervi... read complete review

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

AOS meeting held in Indy on Dec 15, 2005. Arrived 1hr early and waited in lounge until scheduled meeting time. Officer called our name and lead us to his office. Very nice friendly pleasent gentleman who swore both of us in under oath before suggesting we take off our winter coats and get comfortable. We then exchanged ID's including passports & driver licenses with photos. He then asked for applicants' birthdate, date we were married and 5 generic questions to the applicant from the I-485 form including crimes, leaving country, organized activity, terrorism and assisting other aliens. He asked us to then present all evidence of marriage (from the large envelope I dragged into the meeting) which included copies of:

Joint Bank Account statements
Joint Credit Card statements
Bride and Groom Employment Confirmations
Pay Stubs
Auto Insurance
House Insurance
Power and Telephone Bills
Retirement statements detailing benefi... read complete review
