Absolute breeze. The officer who took our case was very nice and happy to have a laugh with us.
She verified our names and address and said that our green card would take a couple of weeks to arrive and sent us on our way.
Easy!

We had our interview at 10:30 am and were approved six hours later. We arrived at 10:07 am. As we entered the building, we had to walk through the security checkpoint and check in at the front desk. We were called in at 10:45 by a very pleasant officer who smiled the entire time he was interviewing us and who made jokes and movie references constantly. The entire interview was extremely relaxed and seemed more like us talking. He first took a picture of my husband (I'm the US citizen) and took fingerprints to verify that he was who he said he was. He laughed about my husband not having any accent despite being from Germany and generally made it a very comfortable atmosphere. He asked me to state my husband's full name and for my husband to state mine and then asked me to tell him our address. He then went through the I-485 yes or no questions and changed the "List your present or past membership in or affiliation with every organization, association, fund, foundation, party, club, soci... read complete review

We prepared extensive paperwork proving continuing relationship and brought copies of every document submitted.
Office is a bit hard to get to for out of towners, and not in a very nice neighborhood, it's very near a big Chrysler assembly plant. There are a few places to get coffee or lunch (we arrived 90 minutes early since we drove 2.5 hours to get there) The building is newish, parking was adequate (but not covered). Rented security were officious and annoying, but not more so than many TSA folk at airports. Waiting room was spacious and not too uncomfortable. We were called within a few minutes of our appointed time and or interviewer escorted us to her office. We did not use a lawyer.
Our interviewer was friendly and businesslike. She was a lawyer herself. After being sworn, she checked at least 50 different facts in our application (she had what appeared to be a complete copy of everything we'd submitted, including originals of our candid pictures, e... read complete review

Entered in 2010 with F1. Dropped out in 2012. Didn't finish school. Married USC in 2016.Â
My timeline:
PD: 4/24/2016
Biometric: 6/19/2016
EAD: 8/20/2016
Interview scheduled: 5/16/2017
So as you can see the interview (Detroit Office)Â was scheduled over a year after the PD. So I was quite happy when we got the interview. Unfortunately didnt get a spot apporval.
Here'swhat happened:
- We went and checked in at reception and was called in by the IO almost immediately. He was a very young gentleman.
- The interviewer was really warm and asked us very minimal questions. He asked Bree (my wife)Â the basic questions like what her name, adress, dob, parents' names, in laws names are.Â
- Then he asked me the same basic questions and then asked me those standard yes/no terorism, espionage questions. He then took my new medical report.
He went into... read complete review
