Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

Our case handler for change of status was same guy who took Sue's biometrics 4 months prior. He glanced at our paperwork, then told us we were not the "kind of people I will be dealing with the rest of the day". So he told us he would ask a couple of routine questions, then send us on our way and we can expect her green card in 3-6 weeks. So NO INTERVIEW!! We thank Mr. Merlach for his friendly and speedy processing.

Review Topic: Naturalization

Though I've had to deal with the Buffalo office a few times, all of which have been great, I'll focus on the last visit - a naturalization interview...

I had an early afternoon interview time, and got to the office probably about 30 minutes early. Got through security, checked in at the counter (where they had some difficulty getting fingerprints - Buffalo in December...), and barely had a chance to make a quick trip to the bathroom before I was called in. IO stated that the previous interviewee was a no-show, so she was going to take me in right away.

Very pleasant interview, and within about 10 minutes I had my decision in front of me, along with an oath ceremony letter in hand. Walked out back to the lobby, where my wife was a little concerned about how quickly I was back, thinking that there was something going on. She later complained that she had barely had a chance to get settled in - but in any case, we ended up walking out of the office probab... read complete review

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

My new husband and I just returned from Buffalo (we are about 3 hours away near Ithaca) for our Green Card interview. We knew it would be brief, and were disappointed there wasn't a Syracuse option, but attended anyway. The whole interview took about 10 minutes. 50 minutes from entry to exit.

At 12 o clock we walked in half an hour early to get started. Security took all our stuff and looked at the appointment letter. They told us to check in at the first booth. There was 3 people in front of us, the line was quick. They checked my appointment letter and took my photo (not his) and both my index finger prints. The lady told us to sit and wait for us to be called. About 10 minutes later they started calling ticket numbers and my husband went up to make sure we didn't miss getting a ticket (nobody was going up for the first number called). She said no, by name, and we waited some more.

After about 25 minutes more of waiting (we were there pretty early) a ma... read complete review

All done... Interview went very smoothly... We got there half an hour early had to wait in line behind 5 or 6 people to check in... waited around 10 to 15 mins in the waiting area being very nervous LOL... IO came out and called my last name, he was not smiling but professional and polite, took us into his office and swore us in... then he went through our full names and date of births and address... then he went through the questions on my i-485... then he asked my wife where we had met and around what date... then he asked if it was both of our first marriage and we said yes, then he asked if either one of us had kids and we said no then he asked who are the kids in those photos and i was pleasantly surprised that he had actually personally looked through the pictures and i said those where her niece and nephew... then he asked if we had any extra evidence we want to submit and i gave him our wedding album and my sealed medical form... he said we did a background check and everything... read complete review
