We had our adjustment of status interview at the Baltimore field office last week. We went there around 15 minutes earlier than the appointment. After routine security checks, we went and showed our interview notice to an officer at a counter and he gave us a token. We only had to wait around a few minutes before we were called by our IO. He escorted us to his office and put us under oath. Then he started going through our package. He started with basic questions with names and country of birth. All the questions were very much straightforward and we had already gone through our applications on the day before. He asked the names and birthdays of each spouse's parents. We are from the same country and the same hometown. Seems like he was convinced with our evidence of bona fide marriage (joint health insurance, auto insurance, joint lease, some travel itineraries where we visited our home country). We have been living together for around 2.5 years and have been married for around 1.5 ye... read complete review

We had a great experience at the Baltimore local office. The officer who handled our case was very nice and showed interest in Spain and Ian's hometown and easily found topics to talk about to ease our nerves. I were nervous since we are a gay couple and you never know how people can react to it. Overall, the experience was good and comforting.

Overall a pretty pleasant experience. Interview said to be there at 9:30 in the morning. With COVID they were spreading people out so we prepared to go in at 9:15 and met with our immigration lawyer there. Went through security, checked in at the counter and waited for our number to be called. About an hour later the IO called us back for our interview.
It was pretty straight forward for the most part. She had us swear ourselves in and then began the interview. Our immigration lawyer sat in the back in case we needed him (we didn't). She asked for our state issued ID's and passports (we also gave her copies she could keep). Asked us some basic questions such as the name of your spouse, their birthday, who is this person sitting next to you, etc. Then she went into a few deeper questions like what are the names of your spouse's parents, how many times have you met them, where does your spouse work, for how long, when did you meet, how did you meet, when and where did you ... read complete review

Waiting for the appointment took longer than expected, but the actual interview itself was pretty easy. The IO asked a few simple questions (e.g. dates of birth for both of us, city/state of birth, names of parents, marriage date, where and how did you meet, etc.). And then he went through the long list of questions in the I-485 packet. This all happened in his office with none of it recorded.
Before being questioned, he asked if we had any other proof of a bona fide relationship. We handed over everything we brought (financial documents, proof of shared insurance, etc.). We offered up our photos and he mentioned he didn't need them.
I'm surprised to say this - considering this office is known not to do this, but we were approved right on the spot. After answering our questions, he said he'd go ahead and approve us - he mentioned the card was now in the process of being produced and then asked us to wait in the waiting room for 20 minutes just to make sure... read complete review
