My wife recently went for a CR-1 visa interview at the Ho Chi Minh City consulate in Vietnam. The overall process took about two hours (the vast majority of it waiting.) Once she was allowed into the consulate they took her fingerprints and then later asked for her documentation. They seemed adamant about not taking the picture from the reception we had in Vietnam with all of her family but instead wanted pictures with me (the USC) and my family here in America.
As far as the actual interview was they asked very few questions. She was asked how we met (worked together) and where we worked (University food court) and then was asked my name. After the interview was over she was told to pay to get the visa sent via courier and that it would get to her when it was ready.
Overall she said it was a pleasant experience and all the personnel were nice to her.
Thanks for reading!

Consulate Officer asked three questions. He asked for pictures, and how many times my fiancee visited me and how we met. After we answered these questions he said,"congratulations". They interview lasted less than four minutes.

I've read several reviews here and overall the experiences were at least tolerable, but mine certainly wasn't. PLEASE NOTE MY EXPERIENCE WAS IN 2004-5, so things have obviously gotten much better, but what happened to me might help someone.
The K-1 progressed normally to the point of me going to Saigon to be with my fiancee for the interview and to bring her home to the US. Then it went VERY bad very quickly because of corruption.
The day of the interview we had ALL required documents, but the Embassy would NOT allow me in the building. The Embassy property is owned by the US yet they wouldn't allow a US citizen to enter it! I had to wait at a small cafe nearby while my fiancee went inside. She came out after about 3 hours and said they wanted more proof of how long we had known each other, so we rushed to an internet cafe to print off MY side of the chats with her.........we had supplied HER yahoo chats with me, but they wanted mine, which were identical ... read complete review

Happy to say we had out interview almost one week ago at the Consulate in HCMC. I will give a big compliment to all the Consulate staff who are extremely helpful and friendly.
I had submitted a huge amount of proof of relationship with form I-129. Since that time we have accummulated more proof and it was enough to fill a small suitcase. When we has the interview I placed the suitcase on the counter and we only needed a few items from the suitcase.
Officer was very polite and asked simple and pertinent questions about our relationship, my work, marriage plans and was shocked this was my 8TH trip to Vietnam to be with my fiancee!!! After learning this was my eight trip, and after looking at my flight information, he only had one more question before he filled out the pink form and said "congratulations"!
It pays to be prepared and to fill out the I-129 with plenty of proof of relationship!
