All in all, our experience during the interview process was nerve wracking but a good one. I joined my wife and was allowed to enter the consulate with her. While we were both nervous, my wife was more so than I. I continued to reassure her that she had already been vetted and that this was more of a formality to finalize the process and to root out any glaring issues or red flags with our relationship or that of our file. As I sat watching others go before us, I tried to find any reason or rhyme to the process, to include watching the faces of those being interviewed as well as the interviewers themselves, I tried to keep track of the time each interviewer spent with someone to see if it had any bearing on their pass/denial ratio or to see if the longer interviews were due to the person asking the questions or from problems incurred during those interviews. Which interviewer had the most frequent numbers of denials vs passes, watching faces of everyone involved to see if t... read complete review

My step-mother and step-brother arrived at the consulate office early. I think they didn't get interview until between 10:30 AM to 11 AM because they were done by 11:15 AM or so. Basically, the consulate officer only asked my step-mother about how she and my father know each other, when was the last time he come back to Vietnam and how many times did he travel to Vietnam. Then the officer asked my step-brother when was the last time my father come back to Vietnam. That was pretty much it. And finally, the consulate officer told my step-mother and step-brother congratulations!

We are K-1 visa, filing the petition in August 2015 and interviewing at U.S. Consulate in HCMC on Dec. 21, 2015. We arrived about 7:20 a.m. and people were already filing in the side door - much sooner than anticipated. Get there early and get ready to go in. I won't spoil the experience for you with a play-by-play of ours, but suffice it to say that it was pretty crazy. Don't carry anything with you (other than documents). Ditch the cell phone and computer - not allowed. Don't worry about what line to get in - immigrant/non-immigrant is all the same.
We went in with A LOT of documents - Skype, cell phone, photos, e-mail records, etc. To some degree, I think all of it is necessary - if nothing else, it helps you familiarize each other with the relationship, families, events, timelines, etc. In other words, don't be caught short. Be organized, not scattered. Separate the records - read this website for great ideas.
My fiancee and I disagreed on how to pack... read complete review
