Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

We arrived around 06h45 and the line was already from the door nearly to the end of the building. The orange shirt greeters checked for appointment letters and identification. They checked my passport as the petitioner and verified it against the appointment letter.

Around 07h00 they opened the door and we filed inside the first room where instructions were given. There is drinking water in this room, but no WC.

Next small groups were allowed to cross into the other building where you go through security, similar to airport security. We had to check in my wife's phone and we were given a metal number card to later retrieve the phone on the way out.

I was directed to the seating area while my wife waited in line for fingerprints. We then waited for her number to be called for the first window where her documents were checked. We waited several more hours for the actual interview at the second window. We went to the interview window together. ... read complete review

Went to Interview, arived at 7:30 and we went in, my Fiancee stood in line for 30 minutes to check in and do a quick fingerprint scan and get her number, she was given a priority number, they didn't call us and I saw our number passed, went back to the counter and the woman said "your priority, one moment" she took our file and asked for the support docs, and other required documents, waited 5 minutes then got called up, the Interviewer had a Vietnamese interpreter but also spoke Vietnamese,He asked, how did you meet, "wechat", how long have you known each other?, Is your fiance living in Vietnam? When did he come? What high school did he attend in the US? But she doesnt know that so I responded she doesnt know, he asked would be be flying back together, "yes" did we want to pick up our visa same day or have it mailed, we asked him to mail it....Done...Very fast.

Review Topic: Direct Consular Filing

Filed CRBA Form DS-2029 in person @ consulate. Researched what needed to be done, and completed the checklist for DS-2029 prior to scheduling appointment. After arriving with wife and child at consulate to file CRBA docs, we ended up waiting for our number to be called for about 2.5 hrs. On this particular visit, it seemed there were 3-4 other CRBA applicants waiting, and we were tended to last although we weren't the last to arrive. After filing all docs, and receiving interview, they told us we needed to provide one more document (translation of child's birth certificate), and gave me a "hall pass" to enter quickly once I had that document prepared. Went back home, went online and had the document translated within 24 hours. Returned the next day as soon as I got the document, and submitted to CO. They didn't deny the application, which ultimately meant they approved it. Dealt with EMS for delivery of documents once Consulate received, and 2 weeks later my son had his CRBA certificat... read complete review
