This review outlines our experience from our case complete through our interview with the United States Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Following the submission of our documents to NVC we requested an expedite. Our expedite request was based upon the desire of my wife to visit an elderly, ill relative of mine in the United States who was celebrating an important birthday. Included with our request were a physician’s letter and photographs The expedite request was submitted to the consulate in Ho Chi Minh City. Several days after submitting the request they agreed that they would expedite our case for the interview after our case was completed by NVC.
Once we received our case complete from NVC, it took them 13 long days for them to send the file to the consulate. During that period of time we wondered if having an expedite would be any faster than not having one as others with case completes similar to ours w... read complete review

Check in was fast, but there was a lot of waiting once we got inside. A couple of hours I think. (it was a few months ago). Questioning went quickly and smoothly. No issues. Visa approved. Filled out the shipping label to her home village. Visa arrived in under a week.

Our K1 Visa interview at Ho Chi Minh city consulate.
Interview: Jan 6, Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam
We were anxious. Prepared well and practiced for interview. We had every document that could be needed with us. I traveled for interview.
We arrived at Embassy ad there were large lines. When they called the number for document check, we both walked up. I was asked if I was the petitioner and I said yes. He told me to go sit down.
While waiting we noticed and overheard some of the other people's interview questions. A few k1 applicants that were there by themselves were asked challenging and probing questions and seemed that CO may have some doubt about thier case. We were anxious.
When our number was called, we went to window together. We were both asked to raise our hands and say that we will tell the truth. CO then proceeded to ask us both questions. I was surprised that they allowed me to stay for interv... read complete review

Vietnam US Consulate Review for a K1 Visa:
Sorry, this is a bit lengthy…
The Interview went as follows:
After she got her number we waited a good 30+ minutes until her number was called. We went to one of the last windows (#19?) and the Vietnamese woman there quickly looked through our huge stack of documents/photos and pulled out just a few documents. Then we sat down and waited a good hour and a half or more for her number to be called again for the interview. We arrived outside at 7:20AM, left at 10:45AM.
We both went to the window the second time the number was called. I had my letter of self employment in my hand and tax forms that they didn’t take at the first window, but they didn’t care. The only thing the US interviewer asked me was about my job because he thought it sounded cool (I’m a forester) and wondered if I worked for the US Park Service or the US Forest Service and where. I told him ... read complete review
