Fairly easy experience! Only tricky part was waiting for an hour. Questions they asked were:
- How and where we met?
- My career
- My fiancée's career
- Had she visited me in the UK
- Our wedding plans
Interview was very polite and she said everything looked good and that they would issue us the visa. Just come prepared with the documents and you'll be fine!

My husband just finished his interview and gave me all the details to share with you!
He went down yesterday from Manchester and stayed at the Travel Lodge down the road. His appointment was at 11:30AM this morning. He grabbed a Starbucks around 9:20AM and walked to the embassy just to make sure he knew where to go. It was easy to find and there were people lined up outside the South Pavilion waiting to go in.
He left the hotel around 10:50AM and arrived at the South Pavilion entrance at 11:00AM. The security people at the entrance confirmed his passport and DS-260 and then we went through airport style security. All really smooth and standard. At reception, the officer just asked for passport, passport photos, interview confirmation, police certificate, birth certificate, and marriage certificate. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the wait time was short. The interview went smoothly and quickly!

The interview commenced with the raising of my right hand, taking an oath that all information was true and complete.
I was then asked several straightforward questions:
- When did you and your spouse meet?
-- How did you and your spouse meet?
- Where does our spouse live?
-- Why did you (and your spouse) recently move across country? (Texas -> Virginia)
- Do you have the 2019 tax return/filings?
I was particularly confused by the final question, as I was absolutely certain all the documents (3 years of tax returns) had been submitted/accepted. The officer notified me that only the 2018 tax returns were available, and that she wouldn't be able to issue my visa until their submission.
I presented her the hardcopy of 2019, which she accepted, but explained that I would have to upload and digitally submit this document, and contact the designated e-mail address once completed.
