My husband's interview was on 11 September 2006...the fifth anniversary of 9/11. We stayed at a hotel near the Paddington tube station which is supposed to be a dodgy area of town but we didn't find it to be so. The night before the interview we took a long walk to find a restaurant that wasn't a fast food chain or a Garfunkel's. We found one about a 10-min walk from the hotel called The Queen of Sheba and I'd never had such good or such inexpensive Middle Eastern food. If you're in the area, check it out. The two of us ate until we were ready to explode and left about half our dinner on the plates and it cost less than 20 pounds.

The next morning we called a taxi to take us to the embassy; it was just on the other side of the park from us but never having been there and not knowing London very well, we figured it was best to take a taxi. Our interview was scheduled for 10am but seeing the queue outside the place we knew it would be a while. A woman with a clipboa... read complete review

Interview went off well. All done in two hours. All that worrying for nothing. The hardest part was trying to get through security outside of the consulate. Our interview officer was really nice and asked very little questions outside of my tax returns. My advice to other people is to get a good night's sleep the night before and not be so nervous.

His appointment was for 9AM, and he arrived approximately 10 minutes before that out of breath as the train suffered an electrical malfunction. Showed the appropriate paperwork to the guards, went inside and proceeded to wait. Was called up to the first window, gave over the paperwork they wanted, did the fingerprints, paid the fee, then sat back down and waited some more.
Was called for the actual interview about 10:45. He was asked if he'd ever been married(no), if I'd ever been married(yes). Was then asked about children(he has none, I have 5..eyebrows were raised quite high). Was then asked "Why do you think this is going to work out?". Then was asked a few questions about the kids.
Was approved (we think) and told to pay the courier etc. No 'Congratulations' or 'Welcome to the United States'.

I attended my interview on the 3rd April 2007. My appointment time was 9.30.a.m but I arrived by 7.00.a.m! Sounds early I know and I was first in the que but within 30 mins 18 people were queuing behind me. They let us in at 7.30.a.m! So it is well worth getting there very early. After going through the security booth you walk right round the side of the embassy and in some double doors. There is a desk in front of you and the person there will give you a ticket adn tell you to go and sit in a waiting area. My ticket was stamped with my number 001 and time of 7.33.a.m.

After about a 15-20 min wait I was called to desk 14 and my papers were taken. Passport, DS230, Photos, Birth Certificate and Marriage Certificate. I had a whole heap of bank statements which they didn't ask for which surprised me. I then had my finger prints scanned and was given a form and told to wait in the waiting area. I waited for around an hour looking anxiously at the screens and listen... read complete review
