I had my interview in late February 2009.

I had read these reviews and was prepared to be there early, so turned up 1 hour early not knowing whether I would be allowed to wait and the guards werent worried what time I was scheduled they told me to join the line. So get there asap is my advice as the line just gets longer.

You stand in the queue and have to show your passport and your appointment letter to the guards when you get to them, then they let you continue to wait. You then get to go through security in the x-ray building to the right of the queue. Needless to say everything goes through the machine. A note of advice, if you take any proof of ongoing relationships that include musical cards, leave them behind. They cant go through as they are electronic so not allowed in the Embassy....I had to bin mine

Once through the x-ray you then go into the main building, take a ticket number (K1s should get a number begin... read complete review

Flew down from Edinburgh the day before the interview. This gave me time to scout out the area before hand and get settled in. I stayed at the Marble Arch Inn, a little bed a breakfast just a few mins walk from the embassy. The room was small and very basic, but it was a reasonable price and the staff were pleasant and helpful.

On the way to the interview I dropped off my phone at Gould's Pharamcy (a stones throw away from the embassy). It costs £5 for them to hold your items. There were a few other people there for the same reason so they obviously do quite well out of it.

I turned up at the embassy an hour early because I had heard there were normally busy lines to get in, but it was quiet so I decided to wait half an hour in the park and scoff down my mcdonalds toasted bagel.

Getting through security was fine. I had a bottle of water which they asked me to take a sip from to ensure it wasn't deadly (it wasn't, I lived, they let me in).... read complete review

The interview was really easy! Got called up, took the I-134, etc. When he was called for the interview, he was asked how we met, and he explained it was while he was studying at my uni. They then asked if I had ever studied abroad, and he said I had, in Japan. Then he asked when the wedding was and said congrats you are approved!

We both went to the interview as its easier to help pack together for shipping and fly back across the pond together.

After driving down and spending the night in London, we arrived at the Embassy about 0730a to place ourselves second in line. There appears to be several queues so making sure you are in the correct one is pivotal (seems there were a few people in wrong queue). The proper queue is labeled for visas and is directly in front of the embassy. At the front of the building there are two security buildings outside. The visa queue is in front of the security building on the right side as you face the embassy.

You'll be asked for your passport and interview letter, then proceed inside the security building to go through the x-ray. They are serious about not having any electronics whatsoever and will not allow you to pass. This includes keys with car remotes, cameras and phones. We thankfully left everything in our hotel room (and secured a late ch... read complete review
