Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

I was previously assigned to the embassy in Bogota, Colombia but successfully completed my transfer to London in June. Before the interview happened, I received an email to re-upload my documents to the CEAC portal. I did this and then I received a second email stating that they still weren't able to view them. I was then asked to send them via email, so I sent them through thinking that would be enough.

I arrived at the embassy about half an hour early at 8:30am and queued for about 30 minutes for my 9:00am interview. After handing over your DS-260 page and passport for a check at the door, you go through the heavy security. Don't bring a laptop as you're not allowed to take them inside.

I passed through and went to the 1st floor (2nd in America) to wait for the document screening and subsequent interview. My number flashed up and I headed to the booth to have my documents confirmed by a gentleman in the booth. He had to do some work on his end as my DS-2... read complete review

Review Topic: K1 Visa

Just a very short review of my experience at the London embassy for my K1 Visa interview. I will keep this pretty short since my interview was conducted in the teeth of COVID restrictions in the UK, so I suspect my actual experience on the day wasn't too representative (re: waiting times etc).

I arrived in the vicinity of the embassy around 30 minutes before my appointment and took a walk along the river to calm my nerves - it is a very pleasant part of London and I would recommend others do the same if you are feeling a little jittery.

Around 15 minutes before my appointment I entered the security area and was greeted by very friendly security staff who gave me very clear instructions, processed me, and let me through in less than 2 minutes.

Upon entering the building you are directed by the receptionists to the lifts that take you to the correct floor. As I recall, the windows where the visas are processed at kind of hidden away on the flo... read complete review

A positive experience, every member of staff were kind and approachable.
Arrived 30 mins early, there was no queue for the queue taken on the right, guided by a lady who checked passport and appointment letter.
Straight through security airport style. Opened my phone and an app of my choosing to show the security officer.
Through to the main building and no queue. This lady looked at passport and interview letter and gave me a number, you go up in the lifts and take a left, left for the correct area which is not visible upon entering this floor.
Take a seat and it there are many screens where you can clearly see the numbers as they as called, and to which window.
First time I was called to give passport, birth certificate, marriage and divorce certificate and spouses divorce certificate.
Here I also notified of spouses recent change of address which will also be mine on entry to the States.
Short 10 minute wait in same area to read a d... read complete review

I went to a side window at the embassy first to show my paperwork (DS160 confirmation page, letters from the embassy, passport) outside the building. There's a security building at 'Visa Services'. Once I showed her that, I went to the main door, and was asked to open my phone and click on an app/use it to show it worked. I was let in, they looked briefly through my backpack, I went through airport style security and was then let into the main building. At the reception I showed the same paperwork as at the first window and she put a receipt and ticket number on it before directing me to the lifts nearby and to go left and left again when I got up there.
I entered a waiting room area with five booths on one side, waited until my number was called, and then went through paperwork with the man there. He had a list of what he needed and so I didn't end up giving a lot of what I had (I brought a lot in case!). Passport, birth certificate, police certificate, evidence of name change ... read complete review
