Yippee! We've been APPROVED! Have to pick up our passports stamped with the visa in 2 days.. My husband and I were both sponsored by our son working in USA.
We went to the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi at 6.45 am. Around 8am the security let us in and took away all mobiles, handbag allowing only our important docs and passport. We were no. 3 in the queue. In about 10 mins we were called to a window where the consular officer returned all our original certificates. Initially she asked for our indian police clearance seeing that we had lived in India. However when we told her that we are no longer indian citizens but canadian, she cancelled that request as India does not provide police clearance to non-Indians.
We were then told to go the next window for our finger printing. That took about 2 mins and we were told to wait for our number to be called again for the interview which was conducted at the window. At first we were upset as many who were in line after us... read complete review

I left Ras Al Khaimah headed to Abu Dhabi last January 09, 2012 and i checked in to the nearest hotel for my interview. I woke up the next day at 3:00 AM (January 10, 2012) for my big day (Interview) so I can prepare myself and talk to my hubby for a little while.
At exactly 7:00 AM my sister and I left the hotel and headed to the embassy and we waited outside the building where there’s a bench to sit on. At 7:20 AM a security guard checked our appointment letter because at the time there where over 20 people waiting for their interview; mostly where Arab. I was the only Filipina there.
At exactly at 7:45 AM another security guard checked my appointment letter and passport then directed me to fall in the NON-IMMIGRANT line. At 8:00 AM the security guard directed me to the entrance of the main building (take note its not the USEM building yet it’s a separate room for security purposes only) so they have baggage scanner and some security personnel where ... read complete review

Note that this review applies to the US Consulate in Dubai, not the Embassy in Abu Dhabi.
I applied for an H-1B visa based on an approved petition and change of status from F-1. My appointment was for 9 am, and that is when I showed up. The wait time in the cabin outside the WTC building was about 30 minutes. After about 30 minutes, our group was moved into the WTC building, where we went through security, had our documents checked, and were allowed into the consulate.
At this point we were required to take a number and get in a line to submit all of our documents, evidence and passport. I was slightly confused here because I didn't see the machine dispensing tokens, and a consulate worker behind one of the counters (seemed like somebody hired locally, Indian, not an American stationed at the consulate) was extremely rude in asking me and others to get in line. Seemed to be on a power trip of some sort.
In any case, I did get a token an... read complete review

And exactly at 7:45 am another security check our appointment letter this time with our passport and directed to fall-in line under NON-IMMIGRANT lane.
