It was an extremely easy process. There are vans across the street where you can pay 100 UAH for things you can't bring into the embassy. It is safe.

Immediately after check-in we were called to the room to provide our documents. This took 10 minutes. We waited maybe 35 minutes and then were called to the window for the interview. The man was very polite and only had a few questions for my fiancee. He had a couple of questions for me as well.

The questions were easy and my recommendation is to simply have all your documents put together ahead of time and you should be all set.

There is a very good visa interview checklist on the embassy website. It tells you all the things that you will need.

Review Topic: K1 Visa

We arrived early like many others. We found the storage in the vans across the street to store her phone and we had all of our documents ready to go. We made our way inside through security and passed through the courtyard. We checked in and waited about 30 minutes before being called up for our documents and fingerprint scan. The first woman was very nice and even said I would be allowed to be with Nataly during the interview. Once we were called up for the interview, the woman had a very mean demeanor. She told me to sit down and she would let me know if she had any questions of me. She was also very confrontational with my fiancee about our age difference (17 years). However, she was approved and we will make her arrangements to travel once she receives the visa. Overall a good experience and I understand the State Department's job - they are trying to... read complete review

Very easy interview. He asked basic questions about us because we were together like "How did you meet?", "When did he propose?", "Do you have family in the US?" and he joked with us about stuff too. It felt like a conversation more than an interview. He asked my Fiance' questions about his military service because the consular was a retired US Army Captain.

If you are prepared, the experience is very simple and professional. Very kind officers in the immigrant section that made us feel relaxed and welcome.
