The interview was short (5 minutes). We had a lot of documents and were ready. They looked at key documents like Skype logs and Viber logs besides some photos. They asked basic questions like how did we meet and how many times I have been to Ukraine. They also asked how do we communicate. It was a pleasant experience.

My fiancée arrived for her 8:30 appointment and was called quickly to turn in her documents. There were many others this morning and she had to wait 3 hours to be called to the consular. He asked a couple questions about me. Commented about her wedding dress already purchased there in Ukraine. (My fiancée provided a photo and receipt as part of the evidence.) And made a comment about how nice all her documents were. Nothing was missing and everything was in one of those clear file folders. And then it was Congratulations…
Wow!!
Thank you US Embassy in Kiev!

My fiancee's experience was very similar to many of the Kiev embassy reviews here. I was not able to attend the interview and so I am recounting from her verbal description afterward.
She arrived around 8:00 a.m. for her 8:30 appointment. Waited only for a short amount of time outside the embassy before being admitted to the security area. She waited for a about 10 minutes and then was called up by a very friendly consulate employee who made her feel very at ease. To this woman she submitted the requested documents.
After another 10-15 minute wait she was called the the consulate window and was sworn-in and was given the option to speak English, Russian, or Ukrainian. She chose Russian because when she gets nervous her English suffers. The consul asked my (petitioner's) name, what I do for a living, how many times I visited, and how we met. There was a little confusion with the last question because she replied "through the agency." Describing the c... read complete review

Yana said interview went smooth. Only took about 10 minutes, and the consular officer asked the basic questions about the USC, work, relationship, and where live etc. When she went inside she gave documents to lady in window and waited for to be called. The consular officer didn't asked for any evidence or documents, and just asked the basic personal questions. After he ended he gave a white slip of paper that said, "Your visa is Approved! After 3 days passport was ready for pick up. Overall vey easy experience .
