The interview was easy, the agent mostly reviewed paperwork. Be sure you have all documents in order before the interview! The staff was helpful and kind.

Tania said the interview was rather simple and procedural. That is, the consulate officers checked documents, photos, her international visa and the like. They asked her simple questions about when and where we met. She then went to courier window to arrange delivery options of her international passport with the visa affixed. That is almost all!

The staff in the Embassy was very helpful, especially by Ukrainian standards. They were really trying to help people. We saw several people filling out forms right there. One person had to go out to take his passport photos. Another person was given a pink card (it means that you got your visa), but had to supply a police certificate from Kazakhstan where she lived 20 years ago. They said they would not deliver her passport until after she brought that document to the Embassy. There were several people applying for adoption and the staff was very nice to them too.
We had all our documents in order. Since neither of us had a job in the US at the moment, we thought we would have to have a joint sponsor (someone agreed to be one), but the Embassy just accepted our affidavit of support. I guess we had enough assets.
We arrived at 915 and left at 1130. Be prepared to wait.
We were not asked any questions during the interview. Apparently, our ca... read complete review

The interview process at the US consulate in Kiev was a pleasant experience for us. Our paperwork was well organized and complete. The staff there was professional and courteous.
We had a Thursday 9:30 appointment and showed up about a half hour early. A line had formed in front of the security checkpoint at the Consulate so we jumped in. Since we had plenty of time I didn’t jump in front of the Ukrainians in line though I could have being an American citizen. I showed my passport but my fiancée wasn’t asked for hers though she was on the list for that days interviews.
We went through the security station and they do have some small P.O.Box size containers with corresponding plastic number fobs like you would get from a coat check attendant. They took my chap stick, apartment keys, cell phone and I had already warned my fiancée not to take her purse, cosmetics or anything else that was listed on the Consulate website as being prohibited.

Had 8 am time slot. Was let in at 7:30 am. No order inside, just whoever comes to the window next. Up to the people waiting to set a line order. The blond lady behind the counter would ask for each document she wanted. Did not accept whole file package. She had a list for each file that was needed to finish it. Waited until about 10 am and we were called into the back and told they had NO questions for us. She raised her right hand and sworn that her application was true and honest and that was it.Visa delivered the following thrusday.( 1 week )
