Our experience was much the same as many I have seen here...Our appointment was at 8:00 a.m. We rented a wonderful apartment not far from the embassy and arrived about 7:30. I intentionally left all phones and electronics at the apartment and only took my briefcase with our documents. I still had to leave the briefcase and Iryna left her purse the the storage facility (truck) across the street. We were third into the building...they took our documents and we waited for our interview. The interview included questions on how we met, where we have been together and how long we have known each other. Then, we were told we would receive our visa in about a week. The people could not have been nicer and the process could not been easier. We are currently in Odessa waiting for our visa to arrive. Good luck to all who read this....

My fiancé arrived about 7:30 am and checked in with Security. She was told to wait in line and soon was allowed to enter the consulate. Once in she was called to the first window where she turned in her documents. She was again told to sit and wait. A few minutes later she was called by a second consulate officer and was questioned about the relationship. How did we meet, how many times, and what were our wedding plans. The consulate officer had a hard time believing our love for each other considering the short time it was between our first meeting and visa filing. After a few minutes of questioning she was approved! She received her visa about a week later and then departed to the US. We have been happily married for about a year now!

Writing this as it was relayed me to by [female] fiance.
She says the interview was very short and pleasant. Arrived outside the embassy about 30 minutes before the 8am appointment. When going through security, you are not allowed to bring any personal items (phones, makeup, wallet, etc) but there is a private locker which you can pay for that you can put your belongings in. Once in, you are told to wait in the consular section until a consular officer calls you. She says she was first called by a woman to one window, who takes your papers, and then you are asked to sit down again until a second consular officer (an actual American) calls you. The second consular officer was an American who spoke Ukranian with an accent. She looked through her paperwork and asked her about 4 questions (how did you meet him? where did you travel together?) and casually in mid-conversation said "your approved" and gave her instructions on what to do next. She says it was easy-peasy!

Very quick and easy interview at this Embassy that lasted 5 minutes with an approval. The passport with the visa was mailed a few days later.
