Review Topic: Direct Consular Filing

My husband and I arrived a few days prior to his interview so that we could take care of his medical exam. We were concerned that it might take more than 1 day to get the results back, but we had everything in hand after a few hours (and thus had a lot of time to kill in Ankara -- ugh!).

The day of our interview, we arrived at the Embassy and waited outside ofor ~10 minutes before the guard let us in. He checked my bag and asked us a few questions, then we walked over to the door. A woman immediately came up to us and asked us for more photographs (!) which was NOT part of their I-130 checklist. We panicked, but fortunately my husband had some extra photos with him. Definitely bring extras just in case. She took our information and then we went inside to wait. Apparently, at this point they should call your name and you go up to pay the fee. This didn't happen for us. The next time we were called was for the interview.

The woman who interviewed us told me... read complete review

Review Topic: Direct Consular Filing

These guys worked so quickly with us! They received our documents on the 25th of July and we heard back from them on the 11th of August with an appointment date scheduled for the 20th of August!!!! I don't know if it was because we had everything in perfect order or what, but it was quick.

When we got to the embassy things went smoothly. The woman at the window was very effective and did her job well. She wasn't rude, just a little scary at times (officers are giving visas, NOT KISSES!).

My only complaint would be that there was not enough seating and waiting outside of the gate was quite disorganized, otherwise things went well. As long as you can prove your relationship and you have all your ducks in a row you'll do just fine!

Review Topic: K3 Visa

These people love to destroy hopes! Twice my husband attempted a tourist visa and was denied, then during his interview he was asked why he never went to visit me during the past two years. For his K-3 interview, he was told they must perform additional administrative processing.

Review Topic: K1 Visa

Handan arrived to the embassy early, and there were only about 5 other people waiting. She said that many people were not getting approved and you can hear every word of each interview through the microphones. The interview itself was quick (10-15 minutes) and the only documents that were reviewed were our pictures. She was asked a few questions about my job, religion, her family, my family, etc. She said the officer conducting the interview was nice to her. She was told at the interview of the approval!

Review Topic: K1 Visa

I was very disappointed at the way that I was treated. I thought since I am an American and I am in an American Embassy in another country that I could count on them to guide me. "fat chance"! Not only did I have a problem communicating with them, but they were rude to me. I didn't understand the guards at the gate my now husband had to translate for me just to get me inside. Once inside everyone spoke english but not very inviting to anyone. We sat and watched the interviewers on the day of our interview and all but one lady, were extremely nasty and negative to people. Short and abrupt, quick to deny visas. We were very glad to be done with this part of the process that's for sure
