My (USC) husband had to file I-130 in person at the US Embassy in Bern, Switzerland. We got married on 6/24/06 and filed I-130 on 6/27/06 in Bern. It was a fairly fast process;
Our appointment was at 9:30am and we got there 15 minutes early. They told us to wait in line outside the Embassy until we're given a number. Half an hour later we got to go in. The security gards were rather unfriendly to both of us and we were told that we were late for our appointment (Hello? You made us wait outside in line??!!) Anyway, we were told to take a seat and wait. After about 5 minutes one of the ladies working there came up to us and asked us what exactly we were wanting to file today - we had given here the I-130 outside in exchange for Q-number - but she didn't seem to know what I-130 was! After being sent to another part of the Embassy and back again, we finally got to the right lady who looked at our I-130 as well as the I-864 (Affidavit of Support that my hubby had to bring so he coul... read complete review

We decided to go together. We were on time for our 11am appointment, got in without any problem. We gave our package and were asked to come back at 2pm to speak with a consul. At 2:30pm we were called at a window and my fiancee got asked one question and the visa was approved.
One thing I noticed is the US Embassy in Bern is very secured, at any time you are in contact with US employees. You enter in a part of the building that is separated from the rest and security check is made by a Swiss security company. The Swiss military guard the outside.

Firstly a word of warning: My interview letter referred to an appointment at the US Embassy on Jubilaeumstrasse, Bern which is the old and now vacant embassy address. The correct address is Sulgeneckstrasse, Bern. Consequently I arrived at the wrong address and was 1 hour late for my interview but apparently this happens frequently with Immigrant Visas and the NVC invites.
Security:
You have to queue outside to pass through the first of two security check points. You also have to be able to carry all items (belt, wallet, coins, watch etc, ) with you in your hands between the two check points. No phones or bags allowed, but these can be left in luggage lockers at the railway station (8 mins by foot) for 5 CHF.
Once inside the main building, I queued with all the other visa applicants, but for immigrant visas this was not necessary. Upon reaching the front of the queue I was told to sit in the waiting area and I would be called shortly. Five m... read complete review

The interview for my K1 visa in Stockholm.
I was appointed for interview on January 30 at 8:30 AM, but I couldn't wait longer, so I was there at 7:38 AM was the 3th person lining.
At 8:00 AM they began calling us one by one, all went smooth, as soon as I arrived in the hall, I was told to go to a specific window, there I gave my documents as the officer (very nice, kind and in a good mood) was asking, one by one. She was satisfy that all documents were there just as she asked.
She asked me how I met my fiance, I so naturally began telling her about our love story, ooooh my, suddenly we both were crying, then laughing for the happy ending.
Minutes later, I was called to another window where I was going to be interviewed by another officer (a young man). He began with noticing I travel often to different countries, have double citizenship and speak couple of languages he also speak, he told me he heard my love story which is very sweet and he like... read complete review
