Review Topic: K1 Visa

Here is my experience of the US Embassy in Stockholm.

My appointment time was 08:30 but I arrived closer to 07:45, there are two lines one for US Citizens and Immigrant visa applications and another for all other visas. I stood in the Immigrant line (Yellow sign post) and was the only one there, the other line had approximately 20 - 30 people waiting.

I was there for just a few minutes before the security officer called me up and asked to see my passport through the glass, I was then instructed to turn around and show the bottom of of my shoes, and asked to turn off my mobile phone, which they stored for me at the security desk.

Once through security I was told to follow the yellow line on the floor to a small building where the visa interviews are conducted, inside a security guard asked me what kind of visa I was there for, I said K1 and he told me to go to window nr 7 to hand over my supporting documentation.

At the window ... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My appointment was 4/25/2016 at 8:30am. I arrived to the embassy at 7:50. I had to stand in the immigrant visa line, that is next to the non-immigrant visa glass booth. I was called to the security controll and I had to show my passport through the window, take off my jacket, turn around and show them the undersides of my shoes. I didn't have anything with me besides all the required paperwork. I was asked to step inside and I had to put my stuff in a box so it could be x-rayed and I had to step through a metal detector, just like at the airport. I was told to take my things, follow the yellow line and go to desk 7.

There were only two people infront of me but I wasn't asked to hand over my papers until after 10. I talked to a really friendly lady that had a Finnish accent. I was asked to sit down and wait for my name to be called for my interview. I sat down maybe 5-10 minutes tops and then my name was called and I got to speak to another friendly woman. I saw that she ... read complete review

I had my appointment at 8.30 (10/09/2015) and arrived at the embassy at 7.45. Lined up by the sign that said non-immigrant (as my e-mail had stated) and noticed a lot of other people standing in a sheltered glass box to the left of me. The security guard kept calling in the ones from the box and didn’t seem to notice me at all so after 15 minutes, feeling like a fool, I also went to stand there as and eventually got through the security. The guard spoke Swedish to me after seeing my passport and I handed them my phone and headphones.

My name was then called up shortly after sitting down. In window G a lady asked to see my passport, evidence of relationship and documents. It turned out that my fiancé had missed to state his annual income in the I-134 and we had completely missed to bring his last tax returns. As I am adopted the e-mail from the embassy said I had to bring a final certificate of adoption, which I had no clue what paper they meant. I had brought a perso... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

The appointment for my husband was @ 8:30 this morning - arrived there on time. He had to wait in front of/next to the sign that clearly states interview for immigrant visas. There's a glass booth across, but that queue is for non-immigrant visas. Luckily he was the only one for the immigrant visa, so he only had to wait about 5 minutes before being addressed by the security guard. My husband had to show his passport, take off his coat, turn around, show the bottoms of his shoes before proceeding inside where he went through an airport security check. Then it was a matter of following a yellow line to another building where documents/pics were collected, going to certain windows, waiting and then being interviewed. He was asked the usual questions like where we met, the reason for applying for a visa, etc. The whole process took about an hour, but the interview was very brief. My husband read an oath in English and his fingerprints were taken, as well as personal photos being r... read complete review
