Very quick interview, my husband arrived 1 hour ahead a few people where already in que. He says names are called at random. They asked him to provide information about our relationship to which he provided a big 3 ring binder with copies of all official documents, relationship information, marriage pictures and any other miscellaneous paperwork they might want to see, interview in total was around 5 minutes and he was asked basic questions as to where we met and how did we decide to get married. Great experience!!!!!!

The whole process was simple and efficient! The consular team at the embassy in Johannesburg were attentive and patient. The hubby and I are so excited for this new adventure together!

Was a little nervous due to the magnitude of the event.
Got to Consulate early around 12.15pm - interview at 1pm (good idea as there was already 10 people in the queue and you can end up standing in the sun otherwise), they started letting us in one by one just before 1pm.
Wasn't extremely busy as it's mostly immigrant interviews. They called us up randomly, (not queue order nor alphabetical).
At first call up, I spoke to a South African lady and they scan your finger prints and I gave in 2x US passport photos, my passort and additional (recent) proof of marriage (some A4 pages of printed photos), she asked if this was my first marriage and if my husband was the petitioner. The you go sit and wait again.
Second call up (the "interview"), I spoke to an American lady and she asks you to make an oath that you are telling the truth. She asked me a few more basic questions, how we met, when did we first meet, have I met his famil... read complete review
