Review Topic: K1 Visa

Got there at 8:30am, and was told to join the line outside the Embassy with the other non-immigrant visa applicants, even though I told the guard that I have an appointment at 9am. Joined the line nevertheless, got through security, and went to the Visa room. Took a queue no. for Immigrant Visa, and waited about 45 minutes before my no. was called. Went up to the Consular Officer behind the counter, and one by one, she asked for all my documents. Then, she asked me the following questions:
1) How did you 2 meet?
2) What does your fiance do?
3) Does he live with his parents?
4) Are his parents PR holders or citizens?
5) What were you doing in Australia? (I was there for a year studying)
6) How many times have you been to the US? Were you ever granted my visa? (Luckily I had the common sense to bring along my old passport with my tourist visa granted in 1996, now Singapore is under the VWP, so we don't need visas to enter the US anymore. She then... read complete review

I had my K1 visa interview on the 26th December 2006, one day after the xmas day...so i thought...hmmm...would be a nice gift for xmas 2006!! It was one of the monsoon season day...rain.... Appointment at 9am, i arrived at 845am...As expected, many ppl has lined up in the rain outside of embassy. Despite the temporary tent the embassy has set up for this purpose, it didnt help much...we were mostly wet!! The security guard instructed me to join the line without given me any opportunity to post any question.

With a big stack of documents, files, photos prepared on my hand, i began to wonder why would i have to join this long line if i have the appointment at 9am? Without more hesitation, i decided to walk to the embassy security entrance and show them the letter of appointment of K1 interview...and viola....i got into the embassy!!

The interview process was easy, nice and smooth. The officer was friendly and barely asked me any question except for the expe... read complete review

My Visa Interview on Dec. 18,06 was APPROVED!!! I am amazed with the US Embassy staff in Singapore they were very polite and professional. I have everything they asked and I even made the consul smile on our conversation. I had a very pleasant experienced on my visa interview at US EMBASSY S'pore. It was very easy and simple.

Interview at the consulate was fine, very fast and the officer who interviewed me was very polite and apart from being very professional he also did engaged in some small talk. He asked many questions about my fiance's profession (R is a firefighter).

The only difficult part for the day was the long queue (which crawled) before being subjected to security checks and admission into the embassy.

In the morning it was very hot (for the submission of documents) and in the afternoon (for the interview) it was pouring heavily. The shelter at the queue did not help much and almost everyone including myself were almost drenched (we waited about 30mins) before being admitted into the embassy.

Glad it's finally over.
