Things mostly went OK. But the biggest problem that I had was at the interview, they asked me to submit a new police certificate from Russia, as they wanted one that is less than six months old and the old I submitted had been issued seven months ago. This added another five weeks (the new certificate took more than a month to be ready), at least, to the waiting time of getting the visa.
I understand that they require certain documents and they want the documents to be current. But I am rather frustrated and angry with the fact that they did not make this requirement clear to us. More than a month passed between getting the notification of the interview and the interview itself. There was ample time to get a new certificate had we known that it'd be needed. But instead, nothing was said of this and the NVC letter notifying us of the time of the interview actually states clearly that we need a new police certificate if the existing one is more than one year old. ... read complete review

Maria and I arrived at the Embassy at about 7:00. It was a cold Moscow morning but we didn't freeze too badly. By opening the line was about a block long, so getting there a little early is good. Russian security checks your passports (I was with Maria for the interview and there were no problems.) . We came in through security where you can surrender your cellphones (Definitely follow the guideline, do NOT bing a laptop there is no room) and then proceed through regular checkpoint security.
After that we were directed up a set of stairs into the K-1 Immigration room. It's separate from the rest of the visa processing center. After about 10 minutes we were brought to a window where we turned over all the official documents to a processing woman. I had everything sorted and pre organized before I left so I knew where everything was which was very helpful.
After that we were sent back downstairs for a very fast fingerprinting and then returned u... read complete review

She arrived at the Embassy at 8am and was out by 10am. She told me the interview takes place in a hall where everyone can hear everyone. The Officer was polite and joked with her a few times which made her feel a lot better. Though we collected a lot of additional relationship evidence none of it was asked for expect for a few pictures. Questions asked were, When did you first meet, what do you like about him, have your parents met him, and what do they think about him. The interview was done in English, her choice, and there were no problems.

Got in Line with Fiancee at 7:38am...Line was long so we did not enter the building until 8:25am...got registered and sent to "the room up the stairs" with the three "windows". We sat there listening to everyone's interview as they were literally a few feet from our seats, explaining their stories and answering the officer's questions. We were called to a window around 11:20 and after being asked three or four questions, he said we were approved for the visa. We left the building at 11:40. Was told the visa/passport would arrive in three working days.
