I attended the interview in Moscow with my fiance. Overall, it was fairly easy, with a 15 minute wait outside the consulate before proceeding through security and up to the first window. From there we were directed to window 5 for the interview which was upstairs with a small full waiting room of approximately 30 people. This was the window for immigrant visa interviews, and from there we waited almost two hours before my fiance was called for her interview (she had the biometrics taken during that timeframe). At the time of the interview there were only three or four peopple left which all seemed to be of the K1 type (maybe they save these for the end), and all were nice people, but I was the only US citizen there. Anyway, my fiance's interview was conducted in English with me within earshot. The questions were brief, and they did ask about her previous unsuccessful attempts at a visitor visa, but all went well, and the officer welcomed her to the US after 5 minutes or so. Appointment set for 8am. Arrived between 7.15 and 7.30. People were already beginning to gather at an unmarked entry, so we joined the line. Try to get as close to the gate door as possible - this is where you'll go in and you definitely want to be in as fast as possible. At some time before 8, Russian police/guards took the first ~10 people's passports into the guard shack, checked something, then came back out, returned our passports, and then let us in the gate.
We walked inside and were stopped at a desk, where our passports were checked again (appeared to be an invitation list here). I had no problem going in with my wife.
We then stopped at a desk where our cell phones were checked in, and kept walking.
We then stopped at the next desk, where our passport shipping address from USTravelDocs had a barcode sticker applied. We were also given a green laminated paper saying something like 'immigrant' and were sent upstairs.

My fiancée said that the staff were friendly, and that the interview was a pleasant experience. She first waited about a half hour to give her documents to the secretary, then about an hour to wait for the interview. The interview itself was about 10 minutes and went very smoothly.

I arrived about an hour early, long line as usual. I finally got inside and surrendered my phone. I was directed to a lady that took my documents and fingerprints. They gave me a number and had me wait about 45 mins until I was called.
The consulate was a man, he asked me the same simple questions everyone asks. When did you meet, how, why do you love him, why does he love you, where does he work, where do i work etc. Overall the interview only lasted about 5 minutes. He only asked for photos of us and then said I was approved! The visa was sent to me within a week.
Overall the anxiety was much higher about the interview then it needed to be. The interview was simple and straight forward, I spent a total of 2 hours there.
